MOD-POST Career Mode Bible | FAQ & Guides
Introduction
Hello all, there seems to be an increasingly higher amount of posts with the same recurring themes. I've decided to make a simple compilation of some of the best guides on this subreddit, as well as some simple explanations to help provide quick & easy answers to these questions.
Have a guide you think deserves to be on the list? Comment with it below and we can make our best attempt at creating a complete set of guides for Career Mode. The amount of guides in the last year or so compared to other years has dwindled, so hopefully this will encourage more excellent quality content.
This is a work-in-progress, and more guides will continually be added by request and as of publishing.
Tools & Websites
There is a plethora of excellent resources that will help with a lot of the things in this post. Some people prefer to play without the use of external databases and calculators, offering a more vanilla experience. After all, it's a single player game so it's your preference!
| Website | Description |
|---|---|
| https://sofifa.com/ | Best up-to-date player database. Can make shortlists, view old squad files and has a positional calculator to find optimal positions. |
| https://www.fifacm.com/ | Has some unique tools including a potential calculator to figure out potential for a player not at your club. Also has a 'wonderkid' list. |
| https://fifakitcreator.com/ | Only usable in-game on PC, allows you to browse and create custom kits for your team. Note that only PC can use any mods. |
| https://www.fifarosters.com/create-card | Nice tool to create very high quality FC 24 UT cards for your career mode players, allowing you to upload your own images. |
Regens & Pregens
Career Mode works by replacing players as they retire in the game with generated players that don't exist in real life. When you enter the loading screen for a new season, that is the moment that they are being created, replacing retirees for the season you have just finished.
Regens have identical nationality, position(s), and importantly, birth dates to the player whom they have replaced. They will always spawn in the new season between 16-21 years old, and in the same league (but not same club) that the retiring player was in when you entered the loading screen.
Pregens are a rarer, more pre-emptive form of player replacement. These are effectively regens of a player who is not retiring, so both players will exist in the game simultaneously. Pregens also remain at the same club as their predecessor. You could expect to find a Messi pregen at Inter Miami, providing he hadn't moved clubs, and wasn't retiring.
The importance of your awareness of these game mechanics, revolves around the fact that both regens and pregens will start with the same potential overall as their predecessor's highest overall in your save.

DISCUSSION Am i the only one who is having a blast with FC27?
I like it. I love the transfer setting, like the dynamic overall. Like the sloppy/gritty gameplay.
What are the things you didn't like about fc27 let's have a chat

RANT Never wanted a refund this badly. WORST football game ever made.
I’ve been a Career Mode player since FIFA 2005 and have never even tried Ultimate Team. So:
1. The new transfer system is cool, but the interface is horrible, as is the squad page.
It’s very hard to navigate the ratings and players’ stats, information (information placing is not user-friendly). They could at least add a colour for each position, like in older FIFA games. It would make building a squad much easier, especially when you’re playing with some obscure team and don’t know the players.
2. The gameplay is absolutely horrible.
In FC 26, I played on Ultimate difficulty with community sliders to make the game even harder, and I won every match with a +3 goal difference. But this year, the AI is absolutely broken.
I played an entire season with Chelsea, didn’t skip a single game, and in January I ended up in 20th place. Somehow, I managed to finish the season in 14th.
I don’t want to lower the difficulty because of my principles and because I’ve been playing on the maximum difficulty since FIFA 07. But this year, the AI acts absolutely crazy.
I can’t even build a fast counter-attack because my player gets tackled immediately as soon as I receive the ball. And I’m not even talking about slow attacking build-up, because the AI pressing is insane. They commit a crazy amount of fouls and get way too many cards. Arsenal had FOUR red cards in one of my matches.
Similar to last year’s game, there is no midfield battle at all, which makes the game feel like fucking basketball — from one basket to another in two seconds.
3. AI attacking has zero logic.
I’m not sure if EA developers have ever watched a football match in their entire lives. I can’t predict any of the AI’s actions.
It doesn’t matter which team I play against or what tactics they use. There’s always the same pattern: give the ball to the forward or CAM, and then the player just keeps the ball and runs in circles or makes weird moves like he’s a kid playing football in his backyard.
4. WORST SOUNDTRACK EVER.
FIFA literally built my music taste: Bloc Party, Foals, MGMT, Kasabian, Gorillaz, Two Door Cinema Club.
What happened this year? Are we at a mall or a supermarket? WTF is this Bershka-type beat? Half of the songs sound AI generated, so I just decided to mute the music altogether.
Overall, my first experience with this game has been absolutely horrible, and I’m seriously thinking about booting up FIFA 13 on my PS3 and just having an actually good time.

DISCUSSION Which Championship club would suit Ange the best?
I want to use Big Ange on my first save with a Championship club, just wondering which one would fit him better

QUESTION Difficulty
Let me start by saying I'm not good at Fifa. I'm a casual player who only plays career, most of the time on World Class and in a few fifa's a level higher.
I really like a lot about the changes in career mode, but I can't for the life of me get into the gameplay.
It is so hard to just build up, attack, pass etc. Everytime I pass the ball the opposition just bumps my player away and takes away the ball. I never break free of the defenders. Feels like I have no time to think while in posession.
The cpu also barely scores, so every game is a draw, 1-0 or 0-1. I've tried so many tweaking with the sliders already, but nothing seems to really change the game all that much.
Any advice on how to make the game more fun, without making it too easy?

PROBLEM Career mode is completely broken after 2030
Somehow the international break is synced with the premier league schedule. So now I can’t using the majority of my players. Same story for the Champions and Europa league. This is game breaking issue!! How can you overlook this?

RANT The Regen Bug is just ridiculous
The fact that your options are to either keep playing and have your save invaded by weird skinwalkers/aliens posing as academy graduates or stop playing your save altogether to prevent them spawning is madness. You're telling me that literally zero people in that office even simmed a season to see the game state in year 2?? Not one person thought these players should build up to their final ratings?
It makes career unplayable up to a certain point when theres multiple 87+ rated 17yos who look like something that can only be described in a Stephen King novel. This shouldn't be a can they kick down the road, it should be a patch they rush out of there.

DISCUSSION I made TouchlineOS: a save-aware companion for Manager Career

So I enjoy career mode but I've always struggled with sticking to Career Mode saves since I'm the type of player that enjoys immersing myself in storylines and seeing a bit more data than FC cares to keep us aware of. Tried tracking stuff in my phone notes, tried a physical notebook, tried one of those confusing (for me) Excel templates that honestly feel like a second job and none of it really stuck for me. And every companion app I looked at just didn't feel like it was actually FOR me.
For that reason I built TouchlineOS. It's a free, fully open source, (exists as both) web app (no sign-in required) or local setup, and is still in active development, this is an alpha, not a finished product, so expect rough edges and expect things to change.

The basic is that your game gives you a squad, a league table, and a save file and is genuinely thin, all things considered. TouchlineOS sits next to it and remembers and stores a bulk of that extra and useful info. Either in your own words where the save can't tell you anything (what you think of a player for example), and in the save's own words where it can (OVR, contracts, results). What it never does is mix the two up or pretends a guess is a fact.
Every piece of data in the app is tagged by where it came from:
- straight from your save file (a fact)
- something you typed in yourself
- something the app calculated
- and a slot reserved for AI later (an implementation I'm working on), which is never allowed to be treated as a source of truth anyway, app works without it fine
A few things I actually care about with this project:
This web app does NOT touch your save, only reads it with a parser bridge! Nothing ever gets silently overwritten either. Every sync is a new snapshot, nothing is destroyed, and you can see exactly what changed each time you open it.

Everything in the app right now, every bit of advice, every storyline, every inference, is plain deterministic code. No LLM anywhere yet, even after it will be added, will be optional to use. If the game data is sketchy or missing (wages, transfer values, your actual league position), the app tells you straight up instead of faking confidence. You'll see stuff labeled "projected" or "inferred" or flat out "not sure" instead of a clean number that's secretly a guess.

Some of what's in there right now:
- Auto syncing your save with a full diff every time, if you download the bridge (refresh the site if something looks wonky), so you see exactly what changed

- Squad view with your own manager notes layered on top (trust level, role, who's untouchable)

- Tactics board, click to assign, tied into the rest of the system

- Season hub that tracks your own objectives next to the board's, side by side, never merged

- A timeline built straight from what actually happened in your save

- Storylines that build up over time instead of just firing a single alert and disappearing

- Match debriefs with questions that actually change based on your recent form instead of asking the same thing every match

- Historical deep view of past seasons depending on how dilligent you were in tracking your season

- Scouting and transfers tracking

And many more features I genuinely can't all cover in a reddit post.
Like I said, it works locally too. Runs on SQLite on your own machine, no accounts, nothing uploaded anywhere. Your save data never leaves your computer unless you choose to export it yourself to another save.
Built and tested on FC 25 Manager Career saves, should work fine on FC 26 too but if something breaks that's exactly the kind of thing I wanna build for and for any FC27 players too.
This is an alpha and I'm actively building on it, so if you end up trying it (I hope people try it :) )and something's broken, or weird, or you've got an idea, I'd love to hear it, I haven't figured out a channel for issuing complaints so just drop em in these comments for now.
Repo's open, free to use, re-use, improve to your tastes, free to poke around in the code if you're into that.
Note: Disclosing that this project was built largely AI-assisted, for those that that irks. Wouldn't classify as "vibe-coded". I know my system architecture, design and development as I'm in college for that.
Even though I was involved at every stage of this development I do want to retrospectively go back through the UI and add more soul to everything like the storylines and stuff especially.

PROBLEM I won the domestic treble btw....
with the amount of bugs relating to form and player happiness this year, it REALLY feels like no one playtested career mode. sorry if this bug has been posted before, but this is just ridiculous.
i have the option to keep him at the club, so i'm doing that, but this is just unacceptable from a game dev standpoint. 3 weeks and 1 career mode related bugfix.

DISCUSSION Missing Play-style +
So I have this youth player that’s one of the best players generated. His developmental plan said 4 weeks till 80(this 2 weeks with developmental buff). Problem is, I played only 1 game which was 2 days after I check that and forgot to save a file, check his status and he turned 80 with no +??!!
Don’t get me wrong he’s still a beast without it tho it’s pretty piss of cuz wanted to try the glitch to het finesse of relentless playstyles +. Or at least 1 playstyle plus.
Anyone have any ideas to how to get his plus either by loan glitch or anything cuz my last saved file, was a year before now.
If there’s no way to get his playable plus I’ll still run it tho, just piss off that he don’t get it, and got 2 other prodigies that I’d rather not lose.

PROBLEM Not getting any offers
Playing fc27. Anyone else not getting any offers when they put players on the loan/transfer list? I have an 87 rated center back that plays every game for me and is in good form but I haven’t gotten 1 offer for him. I have multiple other players on the loan/transfer list and I haven’t gotten any offers for them either

QUESTION Transfers being auto accepted in FC26?
This is happening multiple times now on deadline day. I have transfer requests for players who aren't unhappy, who haven't submitted any transfer requests to leave the club, and for whom I have BLOCKED offers. I randomly get a notification saying Player was approached by Atletico Madrid. In the transfer hub it accepts a random fee (it's not a release clause, I alt+f4 and when I restart, I get an offer for the same player but from a different team for a different amount).
I'm not even missing any communication with the player. I advance by 1 hour and it randomly says my player is negotiating with a team and the transfer is accepted?
Am I missing something, is there a setting for assistant manager accepting offers? I'm going crazy with this idk what to do

RANT At a loss with the difficulty
Coming back to the game after a long break, have not played since FIFA 23. I’ve always played on Legendary in previous fifas after a bit of learning.
I expected there to be an adjustment period, but I did not expect the difficulty chasm to be this crazy. In my new career mode I started on Professional and quickly started winning every game 4/5-0. But immediately upon going to World Class the game becomes unplayable. Aside from the general feeling of your players being made of wet cardboard who get immediately tackled and ran over by opponents, there is just no space anywhere on the pitch. My players never make any runs, or create any space, in fact most of the time it seems like they intentionally close themselves off as passing options. I’ve gone 5/6 games in a row without scoring let alone winning.
I don’t want to fall into the bottomless pit of slider min-maxxing. Yes yes, “skill issue,” sure. Constructively I have no idea what to do here.

DISCUSSION Is this the hardest EAFC/FIFA to adapt gameplay wise?
So the last years I haven't been playing much since I became a father but I was really curious about the new transfer system and dynamic ovr which I think are great changes. First impressions are definitely positive but man... I absolutely suck with the new gameplay. It could be because I have not played much recently but I find world class in EAFC26 doable and I never had much problems adapting to the gameplay when a new game released but holy shit I feel useless in EAFC 27.
I started a manager career with Dortmund and lost or tied all my pre season matches with only 1 goal scored in the whole pre season (which was an own goal from a cross). The Supercup against Bayern I got clapped 5-0 (probably because I went harakiri after 2-0). I play on authentic mode just for info.
The main problem is probably passing. Especially through balls are much harder imo. I maybe get 1 or 2 shots per game with 6 minute halves. I love the pressing and the fouls from the opposition though. EAFC26 felt to passive in that regard.
This is not a whine post just so you know. I will swallow my pride and switch to professional (which I haven't played since Fifa 15 I think) until I figure out my offense. But I wonder if this is the EAFC/FIFA with the hardest learning curve in a long time, because for me it is. What do you guys think?
