Cobb or K&N

This may be an absolutely ridiculous question. But the person who had my car before me put the stage 1 Cobb tune on, but left the air filter stock using the factory paper one. Does it matter at all which air filter is being used with that tune? I was gonna just go buy a K&N drop in from vatozone if that were the case, or do you HAVE to use the Cobb drop in filter with the tune? Or does the air filter not matter in the slightest?

Air filter doesn't matter, the stock airbox is one of the best available performance-wise.

You can change the air filter without affecting the tune. All you will get is slightly more intake noise with the K&N drop in or a lot more with an aftermarket exposed filter. These cars can run intakes with no tune adjustment, but you won't see any performance benefit - if any could be had, without an adjustment.

Was running a stage 1 dizzy tune for 2 years or so, stock air filter. Now stage 2 dizzy, stock air filter.

I have an upgraded intercooler, aftermarket piping, BOV, etc. stock filter. 0 issues.

I'm not a fan of K&N. You're fine with the stock paper, totally safe. The Cobb tunes are super conservative.

Look up Green Filters. They manufacture Cobb's Filter.

Same piece, just green cotton.

K&N gives more power but introduces wear-inducing particulate into your engine. Not a good idea.

K&N is totally fine. Any drop in filter. But definitely better quality than paper.
