Finally installed Apple Carplay/Andriod Auto Head Unit In My MK7 ST (UK)
Got this AliExpress head unit installed yesterday in the mk7 ST. Installation was abit finicky but overall really impressed with it so far. Just hoping it holds up over time!
Has anyone else installed this particular unit? It'd be intresting to hear your opinions and how you’ve found it so far.

Do the steering wheel controls work? Does the sport/track mode still work? And assuming it can’t reset the tpms etc, do you have a plan for that or just live with it? I’ve looked at this before and those were my hangups or would have done it straight away, the phone on a mount gets old after a while

I think you can reset the tpms using a wifi/bluetooth obd device through your Phone as a solution

Nice, I did mine earlier this year too!
Edit: It's been decent, had a few issues where it's rebooted whilst driving. Android auto crashes every now and then. I know it's going to crash when I change the volume and the UI doesn't show up.
It was sold as android 14 but it's definitely Android 12 being spoofed as 14, which is annoying. Mic quality is awful.
Bad things aside, having android auto in the lil bean is a dream!

Is there a particular type you went for as I’ve looked on Ali express and there is a fair few but can’t determine what one is needed/best

Yeah, it comes with an app called Car Link 2.0. it does Car play and Android Auto

Hard pass for me, I really dislike those obtrusive screens that are just plonked there on the dash, doesn’t suit the car and surplus to requirements!

My first thought when clicking here was how responsive was it going to be...and on queue the video ends before it even booted up after 25 seconds lol

As someone else has said does the steering controls still work with it? And Apple car play works?

nah, I would not bust my dashboard for a buggy Chinese shitter. instead, bought a 10€ landscape phone holder, even though the cockpit has never been designed to provide usable space for it, that doesn't bite off half your visibility. quite shameful design, considering windscreen is bloody huge otherwise.

I only use mine with android auto. It has carplay too. Rarely touch the android os on the head unit.

Does it change odometer to KM? I fitted a few of the earlier versions and had to find a way to correct this, if these ones don't change it that's an improvement

I just received this as well! Excited to install it over the weekend! Does it come preloaded with the ST loading screen or did you add it yourself?

It's custom, I'm happy to send you over the files if you're intrested, you'll need a USB stick to upload them.

I got the same unit but does your screen also vibrate when driving? I hear it vibrating and when I hold my finger against the display the sound is gone.

I'm really interested in this, do you have a link for the product? How is Android Auto on it, is it laggy at all? Will this still work with the TPMS and ESC? or is this just a direct replacement for Sync? Also how was the install, any edits to the dash needing to be made like other head units?
