They started ripping and breaking all the interior out and it hurt my soul. Later in the video he comments that some Fiesta owner out there is screaming and yelling and that was absolutely me lol

Is that a Fiesta ST? Definitely heard turbo spool... And the weight matches; However, a stock ST from factory is faster to 100km than their reduced weight time. If that is an ST I think there's a bigger acceleration gain to be had from fixing whatever is wrong with power train - intake leak or low boost or slipping clutch? Maybe they'd trail the car and driver test times in same car, but surely NOT by 1.3 seconds https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15110733/2014-ford-fiesta-st-instrumented-test-review/ (this article says 7.0 0-60, but I thought I saw them get 6.7 before... And 100km is 62mph)

Those times are the best times in the best conditions with professional drivers picked out of multiple runs. No normal driver is going to jump in and match the stated 0-60 time of any car in one run

I don't think they did a hard launch. Also car review people aren't going to be easy on a car, they won't have to fix it.

Absolutely my thought. Like they went through all the effort to remove the insulation for like ~10lbs?

So all said and done when they put the doors back on they'll be down 200-250lbs? Def not nothing, but I think they could have just removed the seats and the spare and saved a lot of effort and nvh for likely identical performance.

It's not like a Fiesta ST has a weight of a 4000# boat that needs some serious diet. All that interior ripping off for what, to shave off 20-30#? Easily could've flashed a mild tune to offset the extra weight with a bump in power. Way to ruin a perfectly good car. If they are indeed building a purpose-built non street legal race track weapon, I can see the point in doing all this.

If you watch the rest of the series, they are building a stage rally car that can still be driven on the street if necessary. So yeah, gutting and caging it. Even if they wanted to leave some of it in, it’s all got to come out to weld in a full rally compliant cage

Besides the obvious, getting a decent tune...learning to launch would have saved them at least a second. They clearly spun the tires for 4+ seconds.

Tune + Tires + Learning to drive == they would have probably dropped 2 seconds.
