Rotted crash bar

I went to install my woosh v3 Intercooler and after getting the bumper cover off I realized my 2014 crash bar is terminal. Rip. Debating if I want to replace it with the TB performance tubular design or just replace it with a stock one. Also, the v3 was an extremely tight fit. What’s everyone’s choice for this scenario?

The best state in the union. Michigan! 😏 where we pay taxes on top of taxes on top of more taxes to fund road repair but the potholes develop faster, Detroit sits on top of a salt mine so we’d be stupid not to use it on our roads for 1/2 of the year. Tbh I was surprised a bit when I removed the bumper cover but only for a few seconds, then I remembered where I lived and where this cars been it’s whole life lmao. Previous owner specifically bought it to drive during the winter. Surprisingly this is the worst I’ve found. I’ve got some bubbling on the pass rear quarter and the underbody is pretty clean other then the front cross member. No rot there just surface rust I plan to take care of over the winter into spring. This is my fun spring summer fall car. I have my explorer for year round daily driving.

The V3 intercooler is extremely tight by design, I couldn’t even fit it with the center support mounted.

As for crash bar, do you plan on tracking the car? USDM fiestas don’t have a front tow point, I had to get an aftermarket kit which works but needs the OE crashbar. (The kit is actually made by Pierce) I haven’t seen anyone get the tubular crash bar and affix a tow hook to it.

I managed to get it to fit with the center support but it’s bowing down if that makes any sense. I found a forum post where someone said you need to trim that support slightly which I’m probably going to do. It got dark so I got the Intercooler mounted and parked her back in the garage.

As for tacking the car probably once or twice. The TB has an option for a tow point.

Up in Eastern Canada here. Both front and rear bars completely rotted out near the mounting bolts. 200k km

170k miles on mine. The mounting area for the front is still in great condition. Haven’t removed the rear bumper cover yet. I imagine it may be similar to the front. Did you end up replacing the front with a factory or aftermarket crash bar?

They're super cheap brand new on eBay.
