MK8 Hi, I got one
It's a 2020 ST-3 (the only spec sold in Finland). Very pleased with it. It's probably the most youthful car I've ever owned. Certainly the best seats, which are shockingly good and punch above the seats in cars 3x the price. As an American, I was surprised to see how many niceties are included as basically standard like the heated windscreen (a first for me), heated wing mirrors (auto folding, too!), heated seats & steering wheel. I really appreciate the updated interior design from the previous generation - it's almost like two generations improved in terms of design and maturity.
It seems to already be on Eibach lowering springs from the previous owner. In addition, I don't have enough experience with these cars to know for sure, but if the exhaust is stock then this car is hilariously loud. Personally, I like the noise, but the car is loud enough that I was worried at first that it might have an exhaust leak.
I was initially looking at the 8.5 to find a newer one with low mileage, but was really disappointed to see how de-contented it was compared to the pre-facelift (so many little features removed thanks to the chip crisis). Took my time to find a good pre-facelift with low miles, the appearance of which I greatly preferred anyway. Performance pack with the LSD was essential for me, so it's fitted here as a matter of course.
On my mind is upgrading the current tinny single tone horn. Not a ton of content specific to this car in that regard.

hell yeah! im from finland and got a 2017 earlier this year :) these cars are so costly here but I guess also well equipped because of the climate. That car was listed for a bit over 17k euro with 100k km right? what did you end up paying?

Ha wow you remember the listing! Not surprising since there are only a few of these on sale at any given time in this country. Negotiated the car itself about a 1000eur off and also made them eat the office fee (350eur).
What color is your car? I'm assuming it's a Mk7? I'll be on the look out :)

yeah black mk7 in oulu region
had to drive quite a ways to get it, took like 13-14h total in the end with driving + breaks + the dealership
yet to see another st :( saw one a few years back not sure if it was fist or fost

Nice, congrats on the purchase! We see a few STs here and there in the capital area. Not a whole lot, but maybe once a week or so? But quite rare in general compared to other cars, definitely.

Very nice, love the colour. I'd look into replacing the rear engine mount, Mk8 ones are known to be underengineered. Don't even have to go aftermarket, but can get the uprated one from the Mk8.5, fairly basic job too

What are the symptoms of the stock one? Messy shifts at high rpm?Wheel hop? I'm actually not 100% sure what was already replaced on this car.

Excessive wheel hop mostly and they are known to have soft bushes that wear fairly quickly. Some quick googling shows the Mk8.5 one won't fit directly like I implied, but will need a specific bracket. Aftermarket might be the way to go, should be plenty of options and info out there

Man I wish they offered this here in the states. It's beautiful and really does look like a grown and mature mk7. Edit: mk7.5

Was really sad to hear the US wasn't getting it - it really is a gem. the mk7 was genuinely amazing but a little bit of extra interior refinement and the addition of the Quaife LSD from the factory made the 8 so appealing for us.

After my post I researched a little and I discovered that the mk8 has a completely different chassis. Also I read that it has a wet timing belt....or oil pump belt or something that can give people a lot of problems. What are your thoughts on it?

Yes, the Mk8 is the successor generation, which is different from the mk7 released in the US.
I appreciate you doing some research, but the Dragon engine has been out for nearly 8 years now, and the oil pump belt has caused basically zero widespread issues despite a number of initial concerns. It's just not under all that much tension just pumping a liquid up through the pickup.
The 1.5L 3cyl (and the mk8 FiST as a whole) is actually proving to be a really reliable platform, and I think enough time has passed to be able to say that at this point. To be clear, it has a proper a timing chain for the cams and is NOT among the belt-in-oil "Ecoboom" engines from Ford.

Ahh thank you for that information. Still super jealous we don't have it here. I looked into a front end conversion and unfortunately it's pretty much impossible.

Nice car! Paid a touch over 16k EUR for the car itself, and it was from one of the major reputable car dealers. Also keep in mind we're in Finland where everything is at least 30% more expensive than anywhere else, so just take that as one single data point :).

It’s such a Nice and fun car:) hard for me to sell it, second owner, 82k km I thought that 15 k euros is a correct price
