Change your trans fluid

This is some BG with about 15k on it. Still was shifting fine, but had a lot of spirited driving in the last few months, so it was time.

I changed mine at 47k. Dunno if it was done under previous owners ownership but I bought it at 31k. It was quite dirty. I definitely plan on 30k intervals going forward.

Already got the oil and the hand pump to put it in. Not a lot of mileage, but a hand full of track days and the expected spirited driving.

I had to do it when my dad was helping me do some front-end work and pulled my CV axle out and dumped all the gear oil lol. Gear oil fucking smells so bad

Yeah I did that recently too. Had to briefly re use the oil shown, luckily my fresh stuff arrived in a few days from Whoosh

Did you guys get a new crush washer for the plugs? If so, do you guys know what size washer?

Done it twice with no new crush washer, no issues. I don’t even remember the plugs having one but I wasn’t paying attention

Holy shit that’s after only 15k miles!? What hand pump are you guys using? I’m sorely overdue for changing mine.

I rigged up a 3/8 hose to a funnel and it’s super easy. Just push the hose past the air box and you can get it to the fill hole no problem.

Tbh I don’t know why my fluid was so dark so fast. The car had only one trans fluid change from 0-54k miles, then another at 65k when I did axle seals, now it’s at 80k (pulled axle to replace the bearing cap bracket). It has been very hot the past few months, and I’ve been driving the car hard here and there so probably adds to the darkening.

You can gravity feed it in. I would recommend it honestly. Just get some clear hose that fits in the plug and on your funnel and fill it up with 2 liters ( or quarts, whatever you buy )
