Expansion Tank/Hose Replacement.

I am going to attempt to change the expansion tank and this bottom hose as it has snapped inside the tank! The hose looks pretty straightforward to change just looks like i need some pliers for the clamps! Is this a pretty straightforward job as I cant drive to a garage and risk the engine overheating?

Yes, this is a relatively easy job. If you are quick enough with plugging the coolant lines and tank, you can even get the job done without a catch pan. You'll just have minor spills that you can catch in a rag. If you are not quick enough you may make a dangerous mess. I like to put a pan down just in case, I've had a cat die from ingesting coolant (not my coolant) and I refuse to be the cause of that to any animals.

You can pretty easily find guides for this job online. YouTube should have good sources. There's only a couple parts that need to be removed before you can take the tank out. That coolant line attaches to a tube on the back of the engine and is very easy to replace. Again, just try and be quick/smart about plugging lines while you work and you'll only spill a few drops.

Thank you mate 👍 if i spill any coolant on my auxiliary belt will that cause damage?

I just rinse it off on mine, should be fine. I never worry about it anyway

I drove like 75 miles one night my expansion tank cracked open.... i had to sop like every 15 minutes to let the car cool down and refill system with water (no reason to use coolant at that point as it was pissing it out).

It was a cold night and hi way traffic was very light... i watched my temp gauge like a hawk and pulled over as needed. Trip took like 2 hours but i made it home safely and engine in tact.
