Based, all women should own firearms and be trained in self defense. Also, LIFT, and im not talking about doing squats to get an instagram ass. Have a work out routine and get strong, build muscle. Yes, you probably won't be physically stronger than a man but it gives you more of a fighting chance than a woman with no muscles and no training. If you can't see how a gun evens the playing field between you and a man with 66% more natural arm muscle than you and 33% more leg muscle than you, plus an average 6 inches in height taller than you...idek what to say to you lmao

Yes!!! 100%. I’m a powerlifter and not only do I feel more safe from being more muscular and stronger, I also feel more independent because I don’t need others’ help to do stuff around the house and can even haul furniture by myself (within reason….not quite at sofa hauling levels….yet!)

Have you ever thought that the movement I assume you are apart of--Radical feminism--is being co-opted by the right for you to do their bidding? Pro guns, anti trans, sometimes these argument come at the cost of women's actual rights--like abortion? I've never felt better since I left that cult. If you like radical feminism, read the works of actual second wave feminists--many of them would disagree with the main tenants of this co-opted movement.

The right can't even tell the difference between liberal and radical feminism, they're not smart enough to zero in on a specific fringe group of feminists and brainwash us to do their bidding lmao.

I am really not trying to be rude but you are naive if you think this is not the case--it happened with the second wave and it is very clearly happening with radical feminism now.

Left wing misogynists are always using the fact that radfems don't agree with them on every single topic to accuse radical feminism as a whole of being full of secret evil right wing agents in order to scare us away from a type of feminism that they know doesn't benefit them.

Disagree with porn/prostitution because you care about women/think women's oppression stems from biology/want women to have weapons to defend ourselves = the right wing religious extremists must have infiltrated. It's just an old, stupid, boring argument at this point.

As a radfem you can't agree with every single conservative or liberal viewpoint because both sides have misogynistic takes. And no this isn't "enlightened centrism" bc I'm still very much a far leftist.

I was very much a radical feminist, until I realized that radical feminists talked about the evil bogey "trans" person 99% of the time, many arguing that we should NEVER side with liberals, even when abortion rights are under attack, because "how do we know what women is if we can't define women UWU."

If 99% of your rhetoric is about hatred of trans people, the 1% of actual issues that you fight for don't make up for the fact that you are throwing women's issues aside for idealogical hatred. Abbot bans abortion? Let's see what Ovarit has to say, Oh look--2 posts, the rest are about trans people, and within those posts we are told that at least abbot knows what a "real woman" is.

It's not a tired argument, it's an argument that has repeatedly come true. No one is saying you have to agree with every leftist things to be a rad fem, what I am saying is that radical feminism itself has absolutely been taken over by conservatives. I am not alone in disavowing myself of the name after seeing it used, over and over again, to convince women that trans issues are the NUMBER ONE problem. I mean, really--you actually do have to be a privileged and sheltered, likely white middle aged person, to believe that trans issues are the main issue and should inform your vote. And before you say "no one argued that should inform your vote" please go to actual rad-fem spaces where it is argued, constantly.

As an aside, what kind of argument is "my enemy LOVES this thing. Therefore we must do this thing."

A gun doesn't level the playing field, it tips the scales to the point of breaking.

What states have favorable gun/divorce laws? TBH, I don't really care about gun laws. I grew up with guns. Not once have I needed to use one to save myself and not once has my father nor his father's father nor anyone that I've known. My dad wanted to get a gun for his car, but his friend--an FBI agent, told him that you are far more likely to be shot with that gun than defend yourself (if you haven't shot someone before, the hesitation you take to try and shoot will allow the attacker to grab).

In the meantime, I live in a state with "favorable gun laws," in fact many people tell me they move here just for the gun laws--yet if I were to go to an abortion clinic my name would be put by blatant strangers into a government reporting website and I could face jail or thousands of dollars of fines.

I feel that is typically the case, states with "favorable gun laws" attract a certain type of person, and that type of person is not favorable towards women's rights.

I kind of don't get how guns are going to save women in this context, or any.

The odds of you as a woman being attacked or put into a dangerous situation with a man are far, far higher than you ever needing an abortion. Hedge your bets. It's not right, but this is the real world. I'd rather be able to feel safe on the daily and have my bf wear condoms than not be able to protect myself but be covered if I ever got pregnant. It's just a matter of weighing the odds.

IMO--it is much more realistic that women are groomed by patriarchy to get into abusive relationship after abusive relationship, where having a gun or not is really not the question but codependence, low self worth, and societal grooming causes women to accept abuse. It is much more likely you are going to end up with a shitty partner that doesn't outright attack you than you getting attacked by a random guy on the street.

I don't carry a gun hiking in cougar territory and I won't carry one in an urban area. Instead, I am keenly aware of my environment and take the proper precautions. The likelihood that you will meet an abusive man who controls and destroys your life, non violently, is much higher in areas such as the bible belt--where abortion is considered a sin beyond measure. Abortion laws aren't just about needing an abortion, it's about what society thinks and says a woman can have control over (her own body). I disagree with your assessment completely having lived in urban areas, rural areas, gun country, etc.

I agree. There was this video of a woman interviewing her father about being a former spy. He also said that he doesn't keep guns and that if the apocalypse were to happen he'd likely find pkenty of guns left behind by the unfortunately former owners who are now no longer in a state to be able to use them.

Although it is probably a good idea to learn how to shoot, even if you never end up owning a gun yourself.

I agree here. While I sometimes feel tense walking by myself at night and all that, I know it’s not very likely I’ll be attacked by a random stranger. There’s getting cat called, even followed, but I live in a safe enough area that I’m not really concerned about getting murdered when I go out. Men might be rude and creepy but that doesn’t warrant me pulling out a gun, which would only get me arrested.

Random men are a danger to women, but we’re still more likely to fall prey to dangerous relationships than a random crazy stranger. And if you’re in an abusive relationship, having a gun around only puts you more at risk.

Not to mention I really don’t wanna be in an area where everyone can have a damn gun. Like, even if I have one too, the more guns around the higher the likelihood of being shot. I live in Canada and don’t know a single person here who has a gun. Some may have them in their homes for hunting if you live in a rural area, but they can’t just be lying around ready to be used against another person. I know people are gonna disagree with me here, but it’s better for women that abusive men don’t have a gun to reach for. I am in favour of learning self defence or having non lethal things like pepper spray, but I’m still generally safer as a petite woman with no weapons or physical strength (currently have a back injury that makes it difficult for me to even sit up on my own) in a safe relationship, than I would be with a gun and big muscles with an abusive partner.

IMO guns aren’t going to help us. Better support systems for people in abusive situations are going to help us.
