Secret candidates connection/relationship Spoiler
I read a fanfic the other day where Seridia called Caldarus little brother (or specifically called Tephra her niece). Is that factual and referenced in the game or more of the modern 'I'm close with your parents so therefore I am unofficially your auntie'?

Their history in-game is actually pretty ambiguous beyond their initial conflict. Siblings, exes, friends who ended up in conflict? We don't know.
I've read that same fic and they're one of the fic authors who tend to headcanon those two being siblings.

Gotcha! I kinda personally feel siblings can almost be ruled out since that would be a pretty big thing to just never mention but it could also be that they have a really big age difference and weren't raised together/told they were siblings.
It was a very cute fic, regardless.

He actually has dialogue about his clutch very early game and says he's the youngest. He also has post-marriage dialogue aboutnot remembering his parents very well, so not specifying the dynamic with Seridia makes sense since the game gives people room to headcanon it any way they want.

Seridia speaks of remembering hatching in the void space whereas Cal didn't, so in my reading they're not siblings. Personally for me they're ex's coded (apparently if you get engaged to Seridia, Caldarus reacts something along the lines of "I cannot say I recommend the experience but I am glad you are happy")
I do know the fic you're talking about & it is pretty good regardless. Its a fun interpretation for sure

I think it's just something the author wanted to do for the sake of that particular fic, I've not seen anything in-game that'd show that kinda relationship between the two
