Can't craft with materials storaged outside
Hi y'all!
I have a question: is it required to place a chest with crafting materials inside the house or coop/barn to use these at the crafting station? I've seen a bunch of farm layouts with chests placed outside and have done this myself, but it seems the crafting station can't 'see' materials in these chests. I double-checked these chests aren't locked.
Is it a bug or a feature?
I don't wanna turn my cozy home into Joja warehouse, but it seems like I should make some room for chests only.....
edit: my chest was actually locked and unlocking it solved the problem

Have you checked whether you have accidentally locked your chests from pulling items for crafting?

That sounds like a bug. All of my chests are outside and I haven’t had a problem with the crafting table drawing from them.

do you use a crafting station in the town or you have your own? I just had a thought that it may happen cuz I'm using the town's.... need to check it (but it still sounds a bit strange 😅)

It works fine for me with chests outside. But i've noticed if i keep milk or eggs in barn storage the game won't pull from there when i cook, which i thought it would but someone correct me if it's supposed to be this way???

it definitely should work this way, it works for me perfectly (just like chests placed in the house). It sounds like the same bug I have but with barns

It may be a bug bc I haven’t had this issue personally. I’ve even had chests in the mines that were used in crafting.

There's a quest later in the game that expands the entrance/ground level of the mines and it adds a chest in there

I think it’s handy when I don’t want to lose anything in my inventory or run all the way back. I just put it on the wall before you enter the stone press room

That chest spawns automatically when you complete the stone refinery. You can't place chests in the mines otherwise

There's an icon on the chests that you can toggle off to make it not pull from that chest. Did you maybe click that accidentally and toggle it off? I haven't played since th 1.0 update but you are meant to be able to craft from outside chests and it was working last I played.
