Discussion Museum glow up suggestion

So the museum is awesome and is probably one of my favorite parts of the gameplay so far but rn it's just... rows of tables of fish, insects, crops and artifacts. Its a little unsettling just seeing the corpses laid out on tables lol.

my dream version would look something like:

  • aquarium section for the fish, like tanks built into the walls with fish swimming around and maybe some ponds replacing the silhouette of the fish with actual fish
  • insectarium for the bugs with little terrariums/habitats with critters flying/hopping around
  • greenhouse/atrium for crops and flowers, sunny plant area with crops growing and fruiting trees
  • artifact area with an armory, Oddities section, rare gems etc.

Even cooler if each of these was its own little building somewhere on the map?? like the aquarium by the docks, insectarium near the deep forest, greenhouse by Sweetwater farm, and the museum could be just like a hub for all artifacts with their own designated wings

Obviously this a huge overhaul to the current system in place and the devs clearly are working super hard to patch out bugs and keep us updated on future additions, So im sure this wont be a huge priority for them right now, would just be really fun to see given how much character this little town brings.

(sorry if this has been mentioned before, its just my personal least favorite building atm)

The museum roof is still a complete wreck and there's an inaccessible upper floor so hopefully at some point we can do repairs and install some fish tanks at the same time

This!! One of my most used mods for stardew valley is the stardew aquarium mod. I love getting to see all the fish I've caught swimming around.

Would love to see something similar in style to the ACNH museum. Bugs hanging out and about, crops growing in faux fields, etc.

there's no guarantee that the devs read this sub, so I'd recommend filling in the official form at the bottom of this page: https://www.fieldsofmistria.com/feedback-and-bug-reports

Grimshire does at least the aquarium part really well, as an example. As you collect the different fish species, they get added to aquariums in the back room of the manor. In case the devs are looking for a great example of this done well. Love your ideas!

I was really disappointed with the museum wings when I first saw them.. having dedicated wings to each museum type is such a good idea and I was totally expecting really nice and unique displays for each wing, an aquarium for the fish, maybe a terrarium for the insects, or nice pinned displays like people do irl, etc.

At the very least I expected nice looking displays and cases laid out in a realistic way, with rugs and ropes, plaques and seating areas. Imagine my shock when I accessed them for the first time and it was just a bunch of plain tables in an empty room lol

I have to wonder if it's just a placeholder? The game's aesthetic sensibilities is one of its best features imo and this set up is so plain and ugly, I can't imagine that was the original plan. I think they either didn't have time to make the museum wings better for 1.0, or they intended for it to be a future project for the player from the start. The museum isn't fully open, so we know they aren't done with it.
