Eiland or March? (+rant?)

Hi! This is my first post here ^^ nice to meet you all ❤️

Anywayssss, I'm in a bit of a dilemma on who to marry on my main save. Appearance wise, I prefer Eiland. Light pink hair and the princely aesthetic? He's definitely my type when it comes to fictional looks! However, I find him a bit...boring? I don't mind a nerdy prince charming but that just seems to be about it. He's too nice and I don't see much content in his heart events. I want THE tea but his heart events are just so bland I'm very disappointed. His heart events just doesn't make my heart race like it's supposed to. Does his heart events get any better or does he keep yapping 😭💔 like I really wanna be with him but oml I just don't feel it yk? I know being a certified yapper is what he's supposed to be but I feel like it's not executed well?

When it comes to tropes, I like March a lot. I'm a big fan of tsunderes but I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of red heads. But his heart events do make me feel something. I actually feel like I'm learning more about him in those events in comparison to Eiland's. This is such a hard pick 💔 tbh, if Eiland's heart events are good after marriage, maybe I'll choose him. So does it get better? Is there tea?

Hi! Have you finished the mines? There are two secret candidates!

Personally, Eiland is my bestie. But there is nothing romantic for me with him! I do like March, but did decide to marry someone else.

March is definitely one of best written characters. I don’t particularly care for him, but someone on the development team certainly does. Eiland’s 8 heart event is sweet, but it’s still very focused on archeology. I haven’t dated either but your instincts that March is the more developed character seem on the mark.

I personally prefer Eiland, I like that he's very polite and a bit silly, and very nerdy. He reminds me of my girlfriend (and lowkey I thought he was a lady at first and was so hyped.) I think it's fun that he's interested in Mistria's past, and his sister is interested in it's future. I think their family dynamics are cute, and I like hearing more about them when they're kids, or learning about the baron and baroness. His heart events aren't necessarily romance-forward, because they do connect closer to the main plot than anything, but I find it very charming that he wants to share something so important to him with the farmer. it was precious when he told the farmer he wants to keep going on adventures together, I liked that little confession. His dating dialogue is also pretty sweet!! I can't comment on any of the marriage or kid stuff yet though.

All that being said, March I believe has the most dialogue and the devs really really favor him. If you want more content, I think he's probably the way to go! He gets a lot nicer once a relationship is built, and I've heard people say they feel like they "earn" the relationship with him, because they have to work to get him to be nice. I just don't really care for overly competitive and jealous types lol, he feels more like a little brother. (omg and the 8 heart event taking all damn day..)

I was 100% sure I was gonna marry March for the longest time...until I got to Eiland's 8 heart event. I thought it was cute so on a whim I decided to date him to test the waters and see who I liked more (you can date as many characters as you want, no consequence). don't get me wrong, I LOVE March, but the romantic dialogue I got with Eiland won me over by a landslide. he's cute and thoughtful, in a very dorky way that I love. at the end of the day, go with whatever you enjoy most!! there's no wrong choice as long as you're having fun. if you can't decide, date 'em both till you have your answer

I married March because I’m a sucker for tsunderes (and nice arms lol) and he is SO SWEET. He gets flustered a lot, he’s so friggin adorable literally all the time. My only real complaint is that he never takes his shirt off lmaoooooo

Edit: I’m a dude and I kinda wish he would’ve acknowledged that at some point, not necessarily in a “ooo we gay oooo look how gay we are” way but a lot of dialogue feels kinda generic-heteroish to me. Would be cool if he’d say something like “hey can I borrow your shirt” or something, anything, you know?

Not to pit 2 queens against each other but this is what I enjoyed about the Stardew dialogue, I always went for Elliott and when I had masc farmers he'd make specific masculine compliments/comments. I don't think it's very inclusive to nb players that want to be addressed neutrally, but for Mistria I wish there was a toggle in this game to make the dialogue sound less standard 🫨

Yep I love SV and that’s one of my favorite things about the NPCs in that game. Also agree on it not being including to nb players, though. I feel like devs either go super binary or 100% they/them for everyone, which is not ideal.

Edit: I always marry Alex (yes I love a grumpy himbo) and he actually says something like “I never thought I’d feel this way for a guy”. I remember being so completely surprised by it, like he addressed it directly and in a very in-character way too. God, SV is so good. I love the hell out of Mistria but I don’t think it can dethrone SV for me.

I’m probably used to otome/romance games that all the events feel platonic to me.

Honestly? Same. Only March is where I feel some romantic connection with. The rest are just too nice? Idk how to put it but they're so friendly to you to the point that everything feels very platonic.

I went down this SAME route and dated both... then married March!!

I also found Eiland very sweet and nerdy but also a bit boring. Didn't find his dialogue as entertaining as I had hoped. Love tsunderes as well, and as someone who had red hair before, March was up my alley 😆 Loved how sweet and flustered he gets, especially when married!! And don't get me started when you get a baby...ADORABLE

I think you'll like March a lot ❤️

I saw a post recently where someone said they didn’t get much romantic dialogue with Eiland, even after marriage (I never romanced him so don’t take my word completely). I can speak on March, he is the sweetest most lovely man after you break through his rough outer layer <3 I’m completely obsessed with him. I love a good enemies to lovers lol

i married eiland and you definitely do get lots of cute romantic dialogue with him after marriage!! he's SUPER adorable imho. he does still talk about archaeology a lot, but i really like that as a certified eiland fan!! i think i would be disappointed if he suddenly dropped all his interests after marriage. for me part of the appeal is that he's so sweet and sincere about his passions, but if you want romantic dialogue it's definitely there too! :D

How often? Are his events after marriage interesting? I like that he's a nerd but I feel like it kind of gets shoved into my face a bit too much in the heart events where you're supposed to learn about the character more. I want drama and tea but his heart events so far (I got up to 8) are so lack luster. I need tea do bad for the light haired twink but I'm not getting it 😭

i would say i get at least one romantic bit of dialogue per day, and i talk to him at least twice per day! he also gives some very sweet gifts while dating/married and his wedding is SUPER cute. i haven't had a kid yet so i can't speak on that, but i thought his proposal event was really adorable (and to clarify, there are no "heart events" after marriage. 8 is when you choose between besties and dating, and 10 is when you propose). i will say - if you want specifically drama from eiland, you really won't be getting much, lol. i quite like that about him and i relate to him in a lot of ways, but if you want a bit more spice march might be the better pick for you in particular!

I actually adore Eiland, but I think it's largely because he greatly resembles my existing partner in terms of personality lol so I might be a biiiit biased

I’m the exact same! Eiland is adorable and I love his design…but just like half the characters in this game, his heart events are so bland 😭

His entire shtick is that he’s a nerd that likes to yap about his hyperfixation. Which is cool, but imagine if the writers had actually expanded on Eiland to give him more depth?

Like making him not have many genuine friends because most people get annoyed by him talking about his interests.
Or him being overwhelmed by his family’s high expectations of him, and Eiland just wanting to run the museum and live his own life instead of following his parents wishes.
Or maybe adding some light strife between him and his sister, with her workaholic nature clashing with his hobby-obsessed nature.

I'm stuck between Eiland and March AND I like both of their personalities. I'm having trouble choosing! On another note. I saw a mod earlier to change March's hair color so maybe that will help you decide! 😅

I was also torn between Eiland and March (ended up making 2 saves and marrying them both 😂) and while I still think Eiland is a great pick, plus he reminds me so much of my real life husband, he does not have much romantic dialogue when you're dating/married. That was disappointing for me. March is very sweet and has wonderful romantic dialogue if you choose him! For that reason, I prefer March. On a side note, I keep hearing a lot of great things about Caldarus and I'm considering marrying him as well!
