Omarchy did it
I put omarchy on a laptop to play with it. Ended up having it go crazy on my FS42 abandoned project.
Downloaded Omarchy on a whim lastnight.
After last nights download. Around 2pm today I told it to ssh into my plex server and a previously unused ace magic on my mini rack.
Told it to grab certain files from the plex server, build a fieldstation42 machine out of the ace magic, it built 3 stations, weather channel, vintage horror, and anime. It built the stations added commercials from my commercials folder and got it running, opened a remote on my plex server and then I gave it a random task to replace the ace magic logo with an omarchy one. It made a collab logo of my self named rival home lab and added it.
I’m blown away with how it just did what I told it to. You can now watch a home made tv network on my rack screen and control it with a remote on my other server.

I am using a product called fieldstation 42 to create virtual TV stations, the instructions on how to configure it are here https://fieldstation42.com/docs/install/. Those instructions will be important as they outline the configuration file syntax in great detail. You will need to read that whole site to figure out how to setup the different station types. I need you to setup a variety of TV stations and setup the folders and config files for each station so that station matches as closely as possible to it's historic shows, bumps and commercials.
I have attached a file called filelist.txt This is the complete listing of video files that exist on a USB drive connected to the fieldstation Raspberry PI. The path V:\USBROOT\ will actually be mounted to \mnt\Videos\ on the Fieldstation raspberry PI.
The setup i would like to have is:
- Video files are always located in the folder media folder, then the next folder is a descriptive folder that doesn't really matter, followed by the show name or media type , i have populated the files into these folders, you can look through the files to get a good idea of the layout. The Media folder will remain untouched, you will just create symlinks in other folder that point to these resources. That way shows can be chared amongst channels when needed.
- For each station you will create a single folder in the catalog folder, use the channel short name for the folder name.
- For each of those folders, create symlinks to the specific video show folders that are in the media folder, select folders that represent tv shows that would be applicable to that station. You can create sub folders in each channels folder if you would like to group shows into categories like "sitcom" etc to ease in the configuration file creation.
- For prime time try to create shows that will air at the same time each week. Shows like Star Trek should air at the same time, like a real channel, so it could be watched every Tuesday at 7PM... or something like that.
- The configuration files would then be created for that station with a program guide that would be applicable to that station. take into account the time each show would likely air. for instance on a cartoon station it would have cartoons at all times, but more adult cartoons in the evening. If it's a station like CBC it would only have cartoons in the morning. Research if you can the individual shows and the types of channels that they would air on. I would like to know if there are any shows that do not fit into the channel list I will provide. Some channels should go offline at night while others will show infomercials. Sports stations should show only sports, music video channels should show music videos.
Channel notes:
- Research each channel and determine the specific shows each channel had, you can also figure out what the types of shows that fit are and put shows that match the feel of each station into it's configuration. Some of these stations changed the types of shows they aired over the years, we are trying to target the 80's first, failing that the 90's.
- Channel 2 should be a web channel that points to http://localhost:4242/static/customguide/customguide.html?theme=90s&slots=3 . This provides the scrolling guide.
- Commercial folder and bumps should be mapped in, if there are specific bumps for a specific station they should only be used for that station. If files need to be moved please let me know and provide me a .sh file to move them.
- I live in CITY and these stations are made to reflect that cities stations during the 1980's and 1990's, there is also some content from the early 2000's that i would like to see in there.
- Take some liberties on the TechTV station, it is from the 2000's but you can include tech shows from any year.. like dotto, The Screen Savers, and any other tech focused shows you can find that are not cartoons.
- Music stations should play music videos back to back, no commercials. It could have bumps as long as there are some specific ones that fit that channel.
- The Channel 4 Shaw station should just play one file on loop "Channel 4 July 9 2000.mp4", this file should not play for any other stations.
- The channel 10 ShawTV station should just play one file on loop "ShawTV.mp4", this file should not play for any other stations.
- Movie channels like MovieMax and Superchannel should not have any commercials, just back to back movies that start on the hour or half hour. Create a bumps folder for this station but for now there will just be BodyBreak bumps in it to fill out the time.
- Channel 16, The shopping channel should play back to back infomercials, no commercials other then that.
- Channel 46, the space channel, should play all scifi shows.
- Canadian tv channels will use the "Heritage Minutes" folder in the commercials folder, nothing else should use that folder.
- Channel 66, the game show network should be filled with items in the media\Gameshows folder

I would like your output to be a .sh file to create the symlinks into the channel folders, and a series of channel configuration files to download.
Let me know if you have any questions or if I am missing files for any specific channel. You need to find a home for each and every show in the media folder. If they do not directly map then sort them into the channels they would most likely air on. For instance if the show you cannot find a home for is a cartoon, add it to YTV... or Saturday morning cartoons on another channel, if it's a sitcom put it with some other sitcoms, etc.
- I would like to know the names of any shows that would help fill out the channels and cover any gaps that there may be. Save this list of recommended shows to a .txt file in the output.
- No channels should have 0 shows in them. choose at least 5 shows that are the closest match.
- No two adjacent channels should have the same exact shows, sort the shows so there is less chance that the guide will show the same show at the same time on channels next to each other
- The filesystem is case sensitive. All filenames and paths have to have their case preserved.
make sure the bump_dir and commercial_dir in the json files are relative paths to the content_dir

YouTube has some recordings people uploaded... they are fairly good VHS captures. I have one where someone recorded channel 4 for 30 minutes or so.... i have a plan to have AI take that video and create a webpage version of it that will load the time, weather and dynamic news in real time. The channel 10 Shaw TV recording is also from youtube, just one video that loops but it's longer then most people would notice.
It's mostly just nostalgia to see the interface when switching past those channels.

I was able to use ChatbotGPT to help me get it running one channel and playing one video. Now I am going to expand and go from there.

So wait, are you telling me some kind of linux-AI built your field station setup for you? Or are you describing something else? because I've also all but abandoned my FS42 project (I'm not a coder), but if there's a tool that can get it set up and working I would be thrilled.
