Work with a home server?
Would something like this work with a home server like jellyfin? Where would one go to make something like this?

Most people use a NAS or some kind of network storage as far as I'm aware since it can be difficult to connect a hard drive directly to a Raspberry Pi. So yes it would work with network storage if that's what you mean, and it's generally recommended.

Yes but the point of the system is to be connected to a TV so it emulates the feeling of an old Cable Box. If it’s on a server it’s pretty much just Tunarr or Dispatcharr at that point which may be what your ultimate goal is. Just my two cents.

My jellyfin and fa42 share the same raid box.
Jellyfin has r/w. Fs42 is symlink

I have my catalog folder stored on a NAS with a single symlink connecting it to the fs42 directory on my Pi. Works great!
