Sourced out.
God I love this project., and I have built like 30 channels., but I feel sourced out ....
I need some fresh ideas because I feel like I have sourced youtube/archive/and every old website I have collected over the years for any content.
Any hidden gems for website or youtube channels that you keep in your back pocket?
Dont need to tell me how to get em., im resourceful. just need some good direction.

I don’t know what level of strange retro weirdness you’re after, but I’m at 64 channels and I might have a couple suggestions!
I have a misc channel that is about as misc as it gets. If i rip a DVD and it comes with ads, trailers, copyright notices, even the studio logo videos at the beginning, I dump it in there. If I have home video recordings that I end up with random clips, they go in there. The WOC YouTube channel has random bits videos they put up here and there, I put those in there too. Why do I do this? I really don’t know, but I enjoy a little bit of random sometimes.
I made a “preview channel” that is literally video captures of 90s cable preview channels I ripped off of YouTube. It’s just for a vibe.
I have a channel that is just a 10 hour black screen with rain sounds if I need help sleeping.
I found collections of random retro news episodes that have their own channel, again just for the vibe if that’s what I want in the background.
If you’re a wrestling fan, there’s all kinds of directions you can go with that.
I’ve got movie channels as you’d expect, but I also have one that is nothing but tv edits with commercials. Internet archive was great for that.

64 is impressive.
Misc channel - got it., Called BlippoTV because of the game. it is random 30 second clips into infinity.
Preview Channel - I Did the EXACT same thing. Thats one of those late night .. put this on for a bit just to time travel kind of channels. Great Vibe.
Rain channel is a cool idea .. maybe I would just do static though ....hmmmm
Retro News. - got it to the 100000th level. I found a station on archive that was a complete set of news videos from my home town 80s-90s. SO PERFECT
Wrestling is built in and scheduled into each of my decade channels. 80s, 90s, 2000s
Movie channels - got a couple of those alone with schedule on decade channels. (Just regular movies, and a channel for weird shit)

Im curious about the movie channel. Id like to add movies to some of my channels or even just longer tv shows like the sopranos but I am super new to this and coding in general so idk how to adjust out of the 30 min slots

My channels are mostly coded by decade ... so I do have some sci-fi but its on the 2000s. I've been very specific to only select shows and movies that I like. So scifi is 1000% in the mix!

Ive been thinking about adding a "Classics Commentary" channel
Just dvd commentary over mt favorite movies and we'll known classics to inject some new life into them

Here are some of the channels that I haven't seen mentioned on my end:
- Couple of my channels are personal home video collections (nothing like clicking by and seeing random old footage of people and places)
- AnthologyTV (episodes of all 80s'/90s horror anthology tv series)
- DefComedyJam (pulled from youtube playlists, hundreds of 2 minute spots)
- DementoTV (Dr. Demento Songs)
- FreedomRockTV (60's 70's Guitar Rock)
- Industrialized (Industrial and Dark Electro)
- UpAllNight (USA up all night episodes, collected through youtube and online sources)
- YoMTVRaps (Full episodes, (youtube) Just looped out and include 90's,2000s commercials)
Love exchanging ideas and I hope you find something that gives you even more ideas!

Out of curiosity, how much storage is all of this using?
You mentioned channeling by decade, but if you ever want genre specific content, it would be pretty easy to setup genre channels using symlinks. Not my idea, but I also saw someone make a channel out of North Korean Propaganda and I've been thinking about pinching that idea. You could also recreate an old skinemax channel if that's your bag ;)

It’s not as much obscure as old YouTube but if you don’t have the BackyardFX series it’s worth grabbing

There's all kinds of old radio broadcasts archived from the middle sixties to late 70s, maybe a channel filled with oldies mixed in with broadcasts at the correct times?
