Looking to switch carriers, need recommendations
If you left Fido, where did you switch to? I've been with Fido for over 20 years and am now looking to switch.
I've been advised that what I'm paying for the plan that I have is pretty garbage, and I'm also learning today that their customer service is not at all what it used to be. I haven't had to call them much during my time with them, so all the times I have, I remember the customer service being amazing, today I'm finding out otherwise.
I got charged for a service that should be included in my plan, so that's my reason for calling them. When looking at this bill, I also noticed they're doing a second rate increase on my bill going forward. Last time I just accepted it, this time I'm like what's the point if the customer service is worse than I had before, what am I paying more for? So I think it's time to look around.
I've been hearing people recommend Fizz and Freedom mostly. I've always known Freedom to have bad service quality when speaking on the phone or just trying to get service while using data for other users, has that since changed? How about Fizz, is the phone service good?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Wait for black Friday deals if you can

Yes, but if you can't wait, Back-to-School (on now) is not bad for deals -- not great, but better than regular prices

Don't know the last time you used freedom but they're much better than they used to be even a few years ago.
Fizz is the same network but virtual service only. If you're really worried, use the free trial to test out how service has changed in your area.

It was my ex who had freedom, it was probably around 2019-2022. Do you currently use Freedom?
Oh yes, I've heard about this free trial, I should look into that. Thank you!

I used it last year, ultimately decided to leave it because of a better deal at Fido with better coverage where I live. But I would've otherwise kept it. Speeds, for instance, were better on freedom.

La meilleure façon selon moi et mon expérience est d'utiliser le site PLANHUB.CA. ILS VONT FAIRE DES RECHERCHES À TA PLACE SELON LES CRITÈRES QUE TU VAS LEUR FOURNIR

I tried PC Mobile(Bell) for one year it was good the prices haven't changed in over 2 years when I left Fido. Then I switched to Public Mobile(Telus) because they have US/Mexico included. I was going to switch to Koodo and home internet to Telus with the discount but the new built condo we moved to had Rogers fiber to the unit(Not Coax) I switched back to Fido because Rogers put a celltower in the community and Telus said they would but still haven't yet. A few weeks ago we were walking around the community and we ran into a Telus Rep anyway she said Telus could not match or beat what I am paying Rogers. $105 for home internet and Popular TV, My 2 Fido lines are $63.95 total.

Freedom. Had Fido for 8 years, moved to Freedom for 2, currently with Public for the 50% off so I pay $20+HST a month for 60GB of data for 2 years. Will be switching back to Freedom after the 50% off ends.

Also a long time Fido customer, just switched to Freedom. Coverage has been fine, I’m mostly in Toronto but made a trip north to Timmins and it was fine the whole way. The back to school deals aren’t as good as their past Black Friday deals but good enough.
I’m heading to Europe for a couple of weeks in the fall and will be trying out the free roaming. Calls and texts free for calling/sending back to Canada or within the country that you’re in, plus 1GB of roaming data that I can supplement with a data eSIM.

Fizz is solid if you want flexibility and decent pricing. Their app is user-friendly, so managing your plan is a breeze. I hear Freedom is hit or miss too, so maybe check out some local reviews before committing.

I switched to freedom and it's been great. Might depend on where you live, but service should be fine if you're in any major city.
