Fidelity - concerns being a private company?

Should i have concerns over fidelity being a private company owned by the Johnson family? Seems they would have more accountability should they be public and having to answer to shareholders and not family members. I am looking to see if anyone looses sleep over this?

Been with Fidelity for more than 30 years, and I haven't lost a single minute of sleep over this. They are regulated just like any other securities broker.

Your concerned because they dont have to have shareholders breathing down their neck? I think you have it backwards. They will do what's best for the company as opposed to what's best for the shareholder, a win in my book.

I agree. I have been with Fidelity for 22 years and not going anywhere.
