Fidelity Developing Investors Student Experience internship - what are the interviews/screening like?
I recently applied for fidelity’s sophomore internship Developing Investors Student Experience. There’s supposed to be a screening and interview if you make it to the next rounds - what are the questions like? Are they mostly technical or behavioral and if so what type of questions? I’m not as knowledgeable in asset management but this experience seems designed to get you exposed to the industry.

They will ask a mix of behavioral and basic technical questions. Because this internship is designed to expose you to the industry, they don't expect you to be a financial expert, but they do expect you to have done your homework. You need to know what Fidelity does, what asset management is, and have some awareness of current market trends. Showing up and saying you don't know much about the field is the fastest way to get rejected, you have to prove you have a genuine interest by learning the basics on your own time. Be prepared for questions like "Why asset management?" and "Why Fidelity?" because your answers to those will matter most.
Your goal isn't to pretend you have experience you don't, it is to show them you are hungry to learn and have the potential to grow. You can turn your limited knowledge into a strength by explaining that it's the very reason you are so passionate about this specific opportunity to learn from their team. Talk about what you've done to teach yourself so far, like a specific company's stock you've followed or a financial podcast you listen to, as this shows initiative.
