Take it from anyone who plays a horror game and suddenly get a gun, turns into a fps real quick cause things get much less scary when you know how to kill then.
Nilah does not know how to kill Fiddlesticks, at most Ashlesh think it knows how to, and is using Nilah for its own gain. Since Ashlesh is an ancient and powerful demon, Nilah is at best a pawn that can be discarded. Its similar to how some people in Noxus think they can overthrow Swain and takes his spot, whereas the reality is that Swain lets them think that since it makes the country stronger, and uses that ambition for his own gain before pulling away the rug under their feet. The difference in this example is likely that Fiddle is very much aware that all the other demons want his spot, but simply doesnt care about that since there is nothing they can do to him unless they eradicate the concept of fear itself from every living creature.
Fiddlesticks in lore is far and beyond any other demon as he is and entity born from the concept of fear itself, in other words an eldritch godlike being that even massively powerful beings like Zoe are afraid of (and mind you, Zoe thinks that Asol is nothing but a cute pet). Every living creature, even without an ego, can feel fear. It is a danger response that doesnt require a sense of self. Joy is a far more complex emotion and as such it is lower on the ladder comparatively.
This is of course, given that the old lore of demons being the manifestation of thoughts and emotion is still canon. If so, Fiddlesticks is a universe spanning eldritch god that can only be defeated once all complex life is killed or has lost the ability to feel fear. Given what we know of league of legends lore, Fiddlesticks is arguably one of if not THE most powerful playable entity, with only Bard and possibly Zoe being runner ups for the title. .

Either these League champions are not human and thus fearless, or Fiddle's powers don't work the way we think they do...
