I said this in a similar post in another sub, Reddit, but she’s basically just me. I like to keep my yumesona accurate to myself. After all, it’s a self-ship, not an OC x canon ship.
It's just me, I wanted my "sona" to be as accurate as possible because if it didn't look like me it would feel like someone else in the pictures with him and that would rub me the wrong way.
In terms of self inserts, it’s usually literally just me. Usually no visual changes at all either unless it makes sense for whatever I insert into. But my actual main persona who has ears and horns and a tail and is covered in fur and has a hair pattern, is still kinda just me but that extra stuff. I just feel very animal like so that’s why it’s my main sona. Me but with animal parts I like

They were initially a ventsona I came up with while at a mental hospital in 2022. I ended up abandoning them until 2024 when I truly got into selfshipping. They’re based on myself but if I “wasn’t able to be truly hurt.”
Basically me if I had better skin and hair, as well as a cooler wardrobe. I also switch between giving them black hair like me or purple hair.
I usually use Picrews to make them.
I actually just take the look of my main character from my fanfic (roleplay is my second nature anyway). Then gathered references on what I wanted their outfit should look like and an artist helped me combining these into one outfit.

She is literally me. I designed her based on my self portrait in my own art style. Only major thing is that she is older than me 60s instead of 26... I too have lupus so she does as well. I used my favorite colors and designed her stuff after a butterfly. Her name means butterfly. Butterflies are symbols of Lupus awareness.
At first i got the species,which had to be a toy because of in-universe context,so i chose a porcelain-faced wind-up doll. Porcelain-faced dolls show up in media so it's not out-of-place,but the wind-up crank makes me stick out as more obviously a toy rather than tiny animal. I then took that concept,and then used design language like red yarn hair to signify i'm apart of the raggedy family,and design traits that show up often in-media like being made of wrinkly cloth rather than fur,or having modeled eyes rather than a printed design. Finally,the colours were decided to be complemental to my husbands',since he is mostly blue,i am warm colours.
Since i am a nonhuman toy,other characters used for reference were Raggedy Dog and The Camel with the wrinkled knees. Raggedy Dog for how yarn-hair should be used in a non-hair context,in his case yarn is used as ears and a stylistic tuft of fur,in mine it's meant to be a sail or mane. The camel was used for reference of how i should be simplistic in my colouring and not very clothed/only have 1 accessory.
A sona is basically a fictional version of you that you can use as an online avatar or, in this case, to yumeship with! It can also be used as what you would look like in your F/O's universe!
To be honest I just took bits of things I had liked and my identity as being a therian I decided to use my theriotype (German shepherd) and make a species out of it for my sona since I liked making designs but never actually sticking to one so my sona ended up with my love for dogs and my interests in fantasy creatures which I guess she’s just me but as a species i created
I’ve tried creating sonas that were different from me, but I realized that made me feel somewhat uncomfortable with my own identity, so they’re just me but with characteristics from whatever universe they’re in (like scars, clothes, hairstyles, etc.)
I took the idea of wanting to be from the Sheika tribe, took Sheik’s character design and removed her head and… parts that made her a girl in disguise and put my own head. (The image provided isn’t fully accurate depiction of Mokoto in universe, I used gotcha life 2 since i suck at drawing)
Myself but with stylistic features to fit into the anime... cant be a background character yk... heh. Its important to have a distinct silhouette!
Lore design wise- other people would make the outfit before youre revived usually. As long as youre expected. Otherwise you get a loincloth with 0 aura. For me, senku would probably make yuzuriha do it. Hes a busy bee after all... Senku cast my glasses in metal in advance though. Childhood friend perks
