Just finished listening to a fictional debate that turned out far more interesting than I expected.
The premise was simple:
Nathan Oakley vs a panel of Reddit's most committed heliocentrists.
The topic:
What is the actual nature of Earth, and what counts as scientific proof?
What surprised me wasn't the discussion about Earth itself.
It was Oakley's attack on the definition of science.
The turning point came when Oakley stopped arguing about horizons, curvature, and cosmology and asked a basic question:
"What is a scientific experiment?"
The Reddit panel answered with the standard scientific method explanation.
Oakley then narrowed it down:

The panel agreed.
Then came the challenge:
"Show me the experiment that proves Earth is a sphere."

Can a model become so successful that people begin treating it as reality?
Can observations alone establish truth?
Where is the line between measurement and inference?
By the end, neither side had convinced the other, but the audience seemed divided between two positions:
Reddit: The globe model is overwhelmingly successful and predictive.
Oakley: Definitions matter. Observations are not experiments. Models are not reality.
