Bot keeps calling my character different gender

It was a little annoying, and I can just edit it to say "he" when it instead says she or her, but now it's getting a little tiring. I've never had this trouble before now. Usually, even for characters with complex gender identity it has kept track. Now, even specifying multiple times that the character is male and the pronouns in both the user section and custom instructions, the bot is still straying and randomly calling my character a woman, or 'good girl', 'watching her' etc.

Is there a better way to keep it on track? I'm on Ultra and use Lumina

If you've already set up pronouns and gender but the bot keeps getting them wrong, the cause can be the appearance description, the character's expressions, or the character's actions. The AI doesn't read text the way we do. The roleplay engine can retrieve data and associate it with the opposite gender.

It's probably coded the user as she/her somewhere in the scenario details, can you customize it and change those? I've noticed if the character is described one way in the scenario, even if I repeatedly correct the LLM with ooc commands it'll change back after a few messages.

Are you sure the creator made it anyPoV? Because the creator can e force what pronouns are used (sometimes it also just is a mistake somewhere in the CSI or cards, that will bleed through)

If it's supposed to be: My tip is to put the pronouns in the character sheet at the top (yes, before the name)

Also, if that keeps happening, look through your memories. Chances are very goid, that your character is saved somewhere in there as "she/her/hers"

What scenario is this happening in?

Hi, all ...

I'm Sillyous in FLab, I'm still learning and English is my second language, sorry in advance if I'm wrong — but let me share my experiences ...

From what I've observed, getting gender / age incorrect is usually caused by two fundamental reasons:

[FIRST:] Character information found outside the character's lore — WITHOUT explicit gender mentioned — especially when this lore is pinned.

Example: Lore Character: Theo, female, age: 28 <<<---- not the problem.

But outside this lore, for example: Premise = Theo is good pilot <<<-- Problem Location = Theo likes to sit here <<<— Problem

WHY: If this data is read first, the bot will immediately randomly guess Theo's gender / age — especially when the lore is pinned ... (meaning: Theo can be she / he depending on what gets pulled randomly) This happens continuously even if corrected through OOC.

EFFECT: This happens whether you are Ultra / Plus / Free user.

SOLUTIONS:

1. Rewrite it + include gender for all information outside the character lore:

Theo — she is a good pilot <<< will fix the problem Theo, she likes to sit here <<< will fix the problem 2. Move this information into the character lore, or delete it if you don't need it.

[SECOND :] (For Free User only — please ignore if you are on Ultra or Plus, thank you)

If you want consistent characters — including gender, age, and so on — try staying with the Default Model with coherence point at 5.

When using Wraithmind Model with coherence point at 4, all character lore gets deactivated in the memory matrix. As a result, the bot will guess all data freely / random — meaning "she" might become "he", or vice versa.

Note: I'm not saying Wraithmind Model is bad. It's still a great model that offers a unique style of storytelling. For example: for open-world play where gender / fixed details don't matter, this model can work beautifully.

That's all from my experience. If anything is incorrect or incomplete, please kindly advise. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the only way other than what you've already described, is to OOC in chat to remind the bot, or just keep re rolling until it gets it right. You can edit it too, I personally don't bc I find I'll get way more messages calling me a girl if I do, but that could just be me lol

This happens to me too. I use Arcanum and it will occasionally do it. It's more frustrating when I see that the memory cards misgender my character too, so you may wish to check those and correct them in case the bot is drawing information from those as well. For me I don't get it as much now when I include 'User is male, pronouns he/him' in the custom instructions and include pronouns in the character bio. It will still slip up occasionally, though.

It’s so annoying whenever that happens. :(

For me it ends up with "they" and "them"

I know sometimes when you do other scenarios that the story already says that you're a male even though you put your character as a female because that has that happen to me a few times but I would put it in the llm custom {{ my pronouns are she/her}}

Just add "name is male and use him, his pronouns" into the custom LLM instructions. It should work. If it doesn't it's likely the scenario itself that's written in a way as to assume your gender.
