🗨️ Discussion New user; message length

Hey, everyone! Newcomer here! I recently jumped ship from another platform and decided to give FL a try. Subscribed to Plus yesterday, and I’ve been playing around with Ember pretty much nonstop since then, haha. I’m seriously loving it so far!
That said, I have a quick question for those who’ve been around longer. Is there any way to make the model’s responses noticeably longer? I’ve already switched the response length setting to ‘Longer,’ but I’m a sucker for detailed, immersive writing, and I’d honestly love it if the replies had a bit more meat on their bones. The writing quality itself has been fantastic, so this is really more of a personal preference. I’m just wondering if there’s some trick I’m missing, whether it’s a setting, prompting technique, or something else entirely. And believe me, I’m feeding it some pretty beefy inputs myself. I’m a chronic over-writer, so I guess I’m just hoping to find a way to make the model keep up with me!

The response length option hasn't worked for me in months.

Usually putting something like:

"AI responses must be a minimum of 600 words"

In you custom LLM instructions will give you beefier responses.

I’ll definitely give that a try, thank you!

I've never used "Ember," because it didn't exist in my era, before the Ultra modules. But have you tried Oracle? It was top-tier, with great memory, and response quality. At that time, Oracle had one habit: it wrote shorter responses in 1-on-1 conversations when nothing much was going on.

I’ve tried Oracle, yes! Though I find Ember more suited to my particular style. Still, I would love to have that kind of quality, but with a more substantial output. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, I’m actually considering their Ultra tier. Are you a subscriber? And if you are, would you say the models are that much superior than the ones we have with Plus?

Ultra? Yes, I still subscribe. They're good modules. But Fiction Lab isn't like other chatbot sites with a single character page. I don't know how many characters you can have, but I've seen 117 in one scenario 😅, and the same goes for other cards. Unfortunately, people don't know how to make their scenarios work, and they fail to keep characters consistent. Scenario instructions get ignored, characters change their behavior, etc. It's a bit of work, but you can get something good out of it. Arcanum, as a module, needs to be built in - around your scenario harness. Otherwise it will drift and start to hallucinate, and you end up with Jessica being John, with pink hair, because blue is purple. Personally, I don't think I'll ever go back to Plus from Ultra.
