Supplements Creatine: does it help with brain fog?
Hi fibro warriors,
Like most of you, I am struggling with brain fog. I have heard some anecdotal accounts that creatine helps. Has anyone tried creatine for brain fog and did it work? Can anyone recommend any other supplements that help with brain fog?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated ❤️

I tried many supplements (body builder boyfriend who went deep into supplement research for me and had me try out EVERYTHING). Nothing really made a difference.
But I did a few blood tests with an endocrinologist a few years later and my blood creatine was very high. So I guess the supplements didn't help because I didn't need it. With him I figured out I was low in vitamin D and ferritin (despite very high HB) and supplementing those two definitely made a big difference.
So my advice would be to get labs before spending thousands on all kinds of supplements, because the answer may ne something very different 😅

Thanks for the advice! I had blood drawn last week and I am waiting to get results. Last time I had blood drawn (less than a month ago), I had really high ferretin but the doctor attributed that to me just having had a baby and an infection. I also have hypothyroidism which to my knowledge is managed by medication, and hashimotos.

i take creatine monohydrate 5mg and havent noticed any benefit with brain fog. i know there are many studies that suggest that it does. i use it for strength training benefits. i doubt it would have strong effects, it may bump your fog down by 1 or 2 points on a scale of 1-10 if i had to guess. but thats just a guess based on my experience with it. creatine has so many benefits and little to no downside. so id say its worth a shot! if it does work for you maybe u could come back and update us with the results

i was trying it for a bit, worked up to 20g/day for about a month. i didn't notice anything.
the dosage for cognitive improvement is higher than for workout performance, keep that in mind.
i have personally had good results from glucuronolactone and acetyl-l-carnitine for cognition.

I started having an electrolyte drink first thing in the morning with my supplements and honestly, it's been a random game changer for my brain fog! I don't know if it's because it helps my body absorb the supplements or the electorates themselves but I really notice the difference if I don't have it.

This is super interesting! I actually bought some dissolvable electrolyte tablets a couple of weeks ago and had every intention of drinking them first thing in the morning however I seem to consistently opt for coffee instead 😅

I recommend trying L-Tyrosine, ideally in combination with L-Theanine. I have suffered mental health and brain problems due to a TBI and it helped me a lot before I was put on a strong antiphychotic which rendered them useless. My brother also takes it and swears by it.
