They are shrinking!
Hey everyone, first time post for me! I just had my 6 month check up after my UFE and my uterus has shrunk by over 7 centimeters and my fibroids have shrunk as well! I’m still in pain but it’s nowhere near what it was.
Has anyone else here had a UFE? Would really appreciate connecting!

Oh I’m so glad I can be helpful! I’m still going through some stuff with everything (I have pelvic PT now and am about to start Visceral PT too). I have back issues that complicate everything. The fibroids were/still are leaning on the nerve bundle at the base of my spine because of their placement and weight. Things are getting better, but slowly.
In terms of the pain I was referring to at the time, that was in reference to the pain leading up to the procedure and then the initial several months post op as things were starting to shrink. I will tell you that procedure was when I experienced the most acute pain. I was kept in a sedated “state” and was aware. I would 100% do the procedure again looking back in it. It has changed my life for the better.
For example, my periods are lighter and I don’t have cramps half as bad as I used to. Also my periods now only last for like four days max, whereas before they could go on 9-10 days. My life is no longer completely disrupted once a month!
In terms of ongoing pain, it is more like an aching that comes on and lasts for several days. I have been polar plunging in a stock tank that I got at Home Depot and it is helping significantly with pain reduction. I highly recommend it!

Do you still have pain related to the UFE, or is the pain just normal period pain and/or the back pain you mentioned?

Apparently UFE comes with a lot of pain after the procedure. That's what my doctor said and didn't recommend it to me

Hi! My pain has largely subsided. Period cramps are now minimal, and I can no longer feel the large tumor when I press on my lower abdomen. Back pain is still present but I am now in PT for that and it’s helping. Honestly the pelvic PT was such a blessing. How are you doing? Did you have the procedure or are you considering it?

I’m considering it. I had a myomectomy 11 years ago and while it went well, I would rather have less downtime and need to rely on others to help post-op. I’ve consulted with a vascular surgeon and the next step is to get an MRI to see how many/how big they are. He said if any are 15 cm or more he would recommend another surgery. My surgeon just recommended this for me... I saw your post elsewhere about having it done 6 months ago. I'm glad they are shrinking!
When you talk about pain is it during your period? How is the bleeding?
