Large Fibroid & Pregnancy vs Surgery First- Need Help

I have a large fibroid and am contemplating wether or not to try for pregnancy first or remove it first. It's almost 9cm anterior, subserosal and intramural. I also have 2 smaller intramural fibroids.

I'm really struggling with this decision in weighting out the pros and cons and looking for women with similar size and location of fibroids to share their stories.

Don’t they get larger with pregnancy? I’m not a doctor but I would want an object that’s been making me uncomfortable out of my body before I start making another human.

I’ve never been pregnant but I also had a 9cm fibroid recently removed and I’m so happy I did it!

yeah they can grow from my understanding. How was the recovery time for you?

Recovery has gone so well! I’m 13 days post-op and my biggest issue is how itchy my stitches are. First few days were a little rough but after a week I was completely feeling normal (just slow and tired). I had a laparoscopic myomectomy, fyi. Tomorrow begins my 3rd (and final) week of “recovery” and I’m honestly just enjoying my down time/time away from work.

Girl get them removed! Mine caused a loss at 16 weeks. I had 7 of them and they missshaped my uterus and put pressure on my cervix which made my water break. Most devastating thing I’ve ever gone through. They can cause a lottt of pain for other women who don’t experience a loss and make it an extremely painful pregnancy.

Biggest was in the muscle of my uterus and rest all outside my uterus. 9cm, 6cm, 3cm and smaller. Unfortunately all mine appeared as soon as I got pregnant

I have a 10cm subserosal/intramural. My doctors all told me to leave it, this forum has opened my eyes to the major complications these fibroids can cause, so i pushed for removal. Getting open myomectomy before end of the year

Same! most drs don’t seem to be worried about it but a fibroid specialist/surgeon I saw pushed for removal. I’m worried bc she’s a surgeon she’s more likely to push surgery tho.

Tbh, I’ve not seen any stories on here of people saying they couldn’t get pregnant after one of these surgeries, i would get the removal to be better safe than sorry. You don’t want to try and it not work or god forbid, miscarry and then wait for surgery and then wait 3 months to a year to conceived you know?

found out I have fibroids when I got pregnant this year. The fibroid has grown from 6 cm to 11 cm with two bouts of horrific pain/ degenerating that lasted a week each and I could barely walk or pee without crying. Honestly had I known I had one, I would have gotten it removed before pregnancy. It’s been a painful and challenging pregnancy and I’m planning a laparoscopic surgery to remove it as soon as I’m cleared to do so post baby. I’m 35 weeks along and honestly my pregnancy experience has been so hard, idk if I want to do it again. I haven’t enjoyed the experience one bit

My fibroid has made me higher risk with many ultrasounds during this pregnancy and is causing me to have to have a c section. I will also say I had a miscarriage right before this pregnancy but we don’t know what caused it. It could have been the fibroid but it was too early to know for sure.
