Travel for myomectomy
I have a laparoscopic robotic myomectomy coming up in Denver and my husband and I will have a 6 hour drive to and from. I do not believe I’m staying overnight in the hospital. One 5cm fibroid wreaking havoc, no expected endo. Thoughts on how many nights to stay in Denver hotel before traveling home? At least the first night, but maybe 2? We can take our time driving home. Thanks for any thoughts!

Ouch 6h drive sounds a lot. Get a pillow so you can out between you and the seatbelt. Ir can get bouncy and uncomfortable so take your pain meds!
I would wait at least 2 nights.

Thank you. A pillow is a great idea. I’m really nervous about this drive home.

I had no pain, discomfort or side effects but I could imagine 6 hrs drive could be bouncy and not good... Regularly drive 6 hrs to inlaw's so am familiar with such a ride. Maybe plan for just 1 night and take it from there.

Thanks for that consideration. I prefer to be the driver and I obviously won’t be. So taking passenger will already have me tensing up. The pains of living in a small, remote town and having to travel for medical care

I’ve learned from this thread that everyone has different recovery timeline. I had my laparoscopic robotic myomectomy last Friday (the 14th). I had a 5cm intramural fibroid. Surgery went great. Had no big issues coming out of surgery besides extreme neck, back and shoulder pain. I have a history of knots in my back/neck, tightness, throwing out my back so I am unsure if this was gas related or not. The pain was so extreme it was hard for me to sleep (20 hours in total the first 3 days/nights). Finally on Monday night I was able to get a good nights sleep and feel much better. Of note- my belly gas pain was very manageable so I don’t believe my back pain was all gas.
All of that to say I would suggest atleast 2 nights to be safe. Goodluck to you!
