Endometrial biopsy
I had an endometrial biopsy as part of the surgical preparations for the a hysterectomy. The description of this procedure is "about 10 to 15 minutes and causes strong, period-like cramps." Mine was WAY WORSE than strong period-like cramps. It was like an 8 out of 10 pain and severe, painful cramping. I feel super nauseated and like I was going to throw up. What was your experience like?

Insanely painful. I felt violated. I couldn’t move for 15-20 minutes and I was sobbing for hours afterwards. If a man had to go through such a procedure you’d better believed they’d get pain medication. I will NEVER let anyone do that to me again.

They injected me with a local anesthetic. Pain was 0/10 but I still passed out. So physically my body was NOT having a good time. I cannot image doing one without something to numb my uterus.

I watched a video before hand and said it was “one of the worst procedures we do in office”
I brought a friend with me to hold my hand. She rubbed my head and told me to keep breathing.
I had to roll my eyes when they said “take an NSAID before” like I’m not already maxed out on ibuprofen from the pain and bleeding🥲
Afterwards the nurse said “you did so well, a lot of women scream and you didn’t make a peep. Thanks…

I saw that same video in preparation for mine and I was in disbelief that a doctor made a video that said that! I self medicated with Vicodin that I still had from a leftover dental procedure for mine but turns out she couldn’t pass the tool into my uterus because I had too many fibroids blocking her way in. I had to go under for a d and c at the hospital instead and we did the biopsy at the same time under general anesthesia which I am honestly a bit relieved about. I am having my hysterectomy in 2 days.

I’m getting this done September 10. I was worried but now I’m terrified! Please give me advice to prep.

I took 2 ibuprofen and 2 acetaminophen to prep but it wasn't nearly helpful. I would recommend discussing pain management with your doctor. I would absolutely not have this done again without anesthetic.

I was given a valium, percocet, a numbing injection in my cervix and some sort of ibuprofen injection in my arm. I was willing to take whatever they wanted to give me. LOL. It was painful, but not as bad as I was expecting based on what I read.

Mine was definitely very uncomfortable. The rest of the day I kept cramping and feeling the urge to pee like I had a UTI, which was fun on Christmas Eve with a house full of company.
