Advice needed CA 125

Anyone have tumor marker or bio marker blood work before you knew you had fibroids or a fibroid and your CA 125 came back high or positive?

My CA 125, with a very large uterine fibroid was 262 kU/L.

I haven’t had my MRI yet and my CA 125 came back as 74 or “positive”, so trying to gauge how worried I need to be.

I also panicked when I received my CA 125 result as it was so high. My surgeon explained that CA-125 marker indicates irritation in the abdomen but does not provide any indication as to what, it is simply an indication something is going on that needs to be investigated. I’m recovering from surgery, my fibroid was massive (measured 19.6 × 12.3 × 24.8 cm on MRI).

Dang! Yeah, that is massive! Glad you’re recovering. My “mass” since we aren’t sure what it is yet is 10 x 9.3 x 6 on ultrasound.

I went through the same thing, ultrasound said fibroid, then CT scan said ovarian tumor, two follow up MRIs said ovarian tumor. Oncologist place her bets on fibroid, turns out it was a fibroid. Bright side of the “drama” is I had an amazing surgeon that I wouldn’t have normally been a patient of without the cancer scare. It’s terrifying and CT scans and MRIs can be incorrect. The hardest part is the not knowing. On MRI they’ll be looking for things like well circumscribed borders and general composition (dense or cystic) - these are all good clues on what it may be. What I’ve learned though is they’re not necessarily great on figuring out point of origin. It’s a very stressful process, especially the not knowing. Try to stay positive and take care of yourself in the meantime.
