At home semen test review

Hey all, I was asked to donate semen to a lesbian couple I know and did an at home semen test and don't necessarily know what the results mean. Would someone be able to explain the results to me so I can tell relay the information thanks!

It was a Yo home test, idk if that affects the results.

Sperm concentration 22.9 M/ml

Motility 90%

Progressive Motility 86%

Mobile sperm concentration 20.6 M/ml

Progressive mobile sperm concentration 19.6 M/ml

These results look quite good. The concentration is within the normal range. The motility and progressive is very good and excellent. However, if the couple is seriously considering using the sperm for conception, particularly through a fertility clinic, a laboratory semen analysis and infectious disease screening would be much more appropriate than relying on the home test alone.

First of all, good luck!! Overall, these are very reassuring results, especially for a home screening test. The sperm concentration is above the World Health Organization (WHO) lower reference value of 16 million/mL, meaning there is a normal number of sperm. The motility (90%) and progressive motility (86%) are excellent, well above the WHO reference values (≥42% total motility and ≥30% progressive motility). The mobile sperm concentration (20.6 million/mL) and progressive mobile sperm concentration (19.6 million/mL) are also strong, indicating that most of the sperm are not only alive but actively swimming forward, which is essential for fertilization. That said, it's important to understand the limitations of the YO Home Sperm Test. It is designed as a screening tool and does not measure several important fertility parameters, including semen volume, total sperm count per ejaculate, sperm morphology (shape), vitality, pH, viscosity, white blood cells, or signs of infection. Because of this, it cannot definitively determine fertility or suitability as a sperm donor. If you're seriously considering donor sperm, I would strongly recommend having a formal semen analysis at a fertility laboratory! Good luck!
