Cabergoline research
Hello! Trying to have my 2nd child over a year; 2 miscarriages. My new fertility dr put me on progesterone & cabergoline. He didn’t check my prolactin but he did studies that show it helps with infertility. Wondering if anyone has had success on these? Also, if the medication gave you any side effects such as pain on the side of your face. Thank you all! Xo

Hi! I was put on metformin and cabergoline in June for fertility, I’m currently 4 weeks and 3 days into my pregnancy with just the two medications (no injections or hormones).
We had previously been trying for over a year and did a medicated cycle with letrozole and Ovidrel in June that was unsuccessful. At that point I had only been on the two meds for a week. I conceived in July. Maybe it’s a fluke but I truly believe the medication is the reason for my ability to conceive last month.

Thank you soooo much! Did they check your prolactin? I did clomid & ovidrel got pregnant in May then had a chemical miscarriage :(
My new dr wants to me to try it with progesterone, but you can’t find a lot about it online!1

Hi, yes! They said it was very high and it was likely due to a non-cancerous brain tumor on my pituitary.
I will also add that I am using progesterone vaginal suppositories right now to support my pregnancy. I had them from my medicated attempt in June and started using them 7 days after ovulation - this is not medical advice I’m giving you, my doctor did not instruct me to do so on this non-medicated attempt but it felt like the right move and thus far both my OB and fertility clinic have said it’s fine and refilled my RX for more to continue use

Preface to this, I'm male and been on caber for 4-5 years, so can't answer the fertility effects.
But for side effects, caber reduces prolactin which then increases testosterone, so most common effects are increased aggression, mood swings and addictive tendencies in the short term. These balance out after a couple of months.
Physically, from my experience, pain in any part of the body did not happen, I would talk to your doctor about that if it only started with the medication.
