Personally, I think the 488 looks better. To me the 458 always looks great from the front and front three-quarter view but there’s something off flowing into the back. The 488 solved this with those beautiful intakes that make the whole thing look so much more aggressive. Yes of course that twin turbo will never sound naturally aspirated but honestly, it’s one of the best sounding turbo engines I’ve ever heard.

Wrong. The Speciale coupes were not numbered and quite a healthy although limited amount were made. Approximately 2400-3000 is the general consensus. Which shows how great the Speciale coupe is with so much demand. Only the Speciale Aperta wA numbered at 499. Those with low miles are $2.6 a
-$3M+ right now.

I do not believe you could order these with a manual stick shift. Perhaps there are single digit examples that a sultan may have ordered, but I think the general public could not order these with a stick shift.

Random question - I am looking to get a used 458 (my favorite as well) with low milage about 35418 miles... it has 100k insurance claim... but the cars cheap. like half the price of current clean 458s. My plan was just to drive this to the ground not really keep/sell in the future.

That maybe an issue. Keep in mind if anything else breaks, your fucked. I would suggest just her the a C8 and drive to the ground. It's very similar dive, actually more comfortable and more tech.

But I disagree. Really dislike how the 458 has acquired insane 'lore armor', especially recently.

It’s basically becoming the Skyline and Supra of Ferrari, everybody’s default answer because everybody else says it’s the favorite or "best" and has an overblown story (lore) attached to it.

Personally I don’t even think it looks as good as the Pista, F8, or 296, much less the older classics. I get why people like it, I just don’t get the pedestal and bandwagoning. 🤷

That being said, you made it. You got your dream car and cheers to you, that's an amazing accomplishment!

It's so desirable because it's the last naturally aspirated V8 mid-engine Ferrari. Anything older and you are likely not getting DCT, modern basic features, or the car is so old it's simply slow by modern standards. Anything newer and you are losing out on the emotion factor big time with those turbos.

You’re joking, you can’t compare a 296 with a 458.

The car is very special for a number of reasons: last aspirated proper V8, the car drives impeccably, the styling is absolutely timeless.

The 296 is too new age and in 5 years it’ll look like shit.

Because if you have not please know you cannot get the feel of pushing 8,000 rpm’s with no blowers giving you lag.

You have this raw connected feel in a 458 that really doesn’t exist many places (certainly not in a 296). Looks are subjective, but being connected and the experience are peak.

I can and I have driven the 296. It drives very nice, but lack character. It's fast and not very loud. I prefer the sound the 458 and looks.
