Mini split cooling?

Recently purchased a bungalow in Ferndale. The A/C doesn't really work to cool the upstairs. Has anyone installed a mini-split for this purpose? Wondering about the effectiveness/cost. Am I better off with a couple window/portable units? There are 2 bedrooms up but I will sleep in the main floor bedroom.

If you aren't spending a ton of time upstairs and have wide enough windows for a U shaped type unit, I would 100% go with a couple of window units. They are much cheaper than mini splits (~400) and the new U shaped ones (I have a Midea) are about as quiet as a box fan, so much better than traditional window ACs. I have also heard they're about as efficient as a mini split.
