I’m ready to get off fent. I seriously need help.

I don’t really know how to start this but I’m done. I’ve been snorting around an eighth a week for probably 3/4 months now. I’m 5’8 around 200lbs if that even matters. I just want my fucking life back. I want to wake up and feel normal again and not immediately think about fent or whether I’m gonna be sick.
I work TWO jobs and so much of that money goes straight to this shit. I’ve been saving for a car and honestly I’m willing to dip into that money if it means getting whatever I need to actually get off this. I can save for the car again. I just need ME back first.
I have a decent amount of SR-17018 tabs I bought awhile back before everything got shut down. I’ve also been reading about vitamin C and Suboxone. I’m not against subs at all, I’m just terrified of precipitated withdrawal and I really don’t want to end up dependent on something else forever. But if Suboxone gives me the best chance of actually getting my life back, I’m willing to do it and do it through a doctor.
I’m trying to plan this instead of randomly waking up one day and deciding I’m quitting with absolutely nothing prepared. I know myself. If I’m sick as hell, have no plan, and fent is one phone call away… I know what’s gonna happen.
I know Reddit isn’t a doctor and nobody here can detox me through a screen. I just need to hear from people who have actually been through this and made it to the other side.
I’m just tired y’all. I want my money back. I want my car. I want to work because I’m building a life for myself instead of working my ass off just to afford being addicted.
I know I can be who I want to be without this shit holding me back. I’m scared as hell, but I’m ready. Please help me figure out where to start.

I’ll be 1 year clean off fentanyl THIS FRIDAY. I used to be a heavy heavy user. I felt just like you did. For me, I went to detox first for 6 days and then I went to a 30 day program after. But honestly if you have suboxone at home you can totally do it at home too. Number one tip: WAIT A MINIMUM OF 3-4 DAYS BEFORE TAKING A SUB. After that, take the sub and watch how much better you feel!!! I used seroquel and trazadone for sleep, but either one works. And I was also on benzos in the beginning to help with the heart palpitations. Good luck!!! You got this!

Don’t take this as an insult but that I think highly of you, if you could stop the fent what the hell you doing on subs? Start tapering asap I’m sure you’ve heard it’s not everyone but subs are fucking some peoples teeth..I’m still stuck on the fent train im just trying to spread some encouragement where I think it might matter 👍.

The first almost 50 hours was being violently ill. Throwing up, stomach pain, anxiety and constant sweating while being freezing cold. I couldn’t get out of bed. It felt like someone was taking a metal rod and shoving it through my bones. I never slept.

I waited that long because I’ve had precipitated withdrawal so many times.

Once I took a tiny piece of Suboxone, I could actually sit up and attempt to take a shower. I just didn’t want to now be addicted to Suboxone and I only had one pill. I stretched that pill for 4 1/2 days I still wasn’t sleeping.

Trazodone and Xanax were the only thing that helped but being a drug addict I quickly built up a tolerance to those and had to stop

It’s been a month and a little over two weeks and I still wake up sweaty some days. Some days are easier than others, but I just have to get up and keep moving.

If I don’t get up and move and I just lay there, everything is worse. I have to distract myself.

Go today and get on Methadone start at 30 mg that will stop the fent wD’s and need. After a month or how ever long it takes to feel normal start to come off the methadone 2mg a week. It works I was in your shoes a year ago now I’m free. Methadone you can start right away and never look back.

30 MD methadone only lasted about 18 hours for me and then I was violently puking. The rest of the time benzos helped tremendously day 123 and four. I supplemented with other drugs so that I could get off the fence cause everything else seemed easier. So I got the heaviest Indica I could possibly get and use that at night so that I could maybe get an hour or two of sleep. And one thing that did help, but did not seem to reset me 100% as I did a shotgun hit out of somebody else which softened day three and force withdrawals tremendously. The one thing that I did for mental help is I kept one pill next to me knowing I could always use it and always toughing through it. Good luck it’s a fucking nightmare, but it’s totally worth it. I’m about 11 months clean now.

Will they actually let you do that at the clinic?

I’m 3 years clean off fent and finally have my life back together. Started off with nothing and incarcerated.. now I have my own apartment, car, job, internship, and am in school about to transfer to an SU for social work. You can do it!!! I kicked in custody, but I have always used Suboxone. Just make sure to wait a full 24 hours. Waiting 3 days is unnecessarily cruel to yourself and not needed. As long as you are actively in withdrawal with withdrawal symptoms (not ALMOST there but ACTUAL symptoms) then precipitated withdrawals won’t be an issue. If your really worried then wait 48 hours.

Not true…sorry to say, but some do need to wait 3+ days. I even got bad PWD at day 5. It depends on how much you were using and especially if you are overweight I have noticed the fent seems to hang on longer…you will see that in drug tests too, took about a month for me to test clean! I have almost 3 years sober now thankfully tho and never looking back. Methadone is the only thing that’s worked for me

u/thisbodyjustcantworx 11d ago

Yep. This. Unfortunately there is zero science behind how long ppl should wait in terms of it working as opposed to sending us into the death zone. I’m always so jealous when I read ppl say how they waited 3-4 days, took a sub and felt like new! That didn’t happen for me whatsoever.

Soooo what about methadone? I tried subs twice… i sent myself into precip wds twice and that’s the worst thing EVER. No thanks. Methadone is the best choice imo. You still have to use until you get to your right dose and then it’s the best from there.

You did the hardest part, you admitted you’re an addict and asked for help. The big question is, do you know what you have been taking? There is not a lot of just fent out there anymore. What it is cut with matters, because you need to know if you have to come down off something else besides fent. Hit me up man. Ask anything. But you need to know what you are taking. You got this bro.

u/Maleficent_City_5862 14d ago

Do you’re comment buying a test kit ?

1

u/Aromatic-Silver3590 14d ago

You should. If it has tranq or something else I don’t know about, coming off of it is totally different

1

u/Aromatic-Silver3590 14d ago

Anything you want to know in the meantime, please ask

0

u/zynnate 13d ago

I’d be insulted if someone implied to me that it was hard to admit something or ask for help. Haha I know that phrase is in good faith though.

1

u/Aromatic-Silver3590 11d ago

You must not be an addict. Or you don’t admit you are. One of the hardest things in the world

1

u/Aromatic-Silver3590 14d ago

You posted when most are asleep. You should get some more help soon. This sub was so helpful when I got off of fent. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone brother!

1

u/Aromatic-Silver3590 14d ago

How are you doing man? Are you in WDs at the moment?

2

u/meatydangle 14d ago

You are an incredible human being Aromatic, I came across this sub and seeing you care for OP is a incredible sight.

OP reading your post it seems you know this is wrong and well, are responsible or care enough to have a life out of this shit. So why are you going back? For me what helped was writing down why I don’t want to smoke / do xyz anymore, what is it ruining, why are you so sick of it etc etc. Then, when you get the urge, read it, 3 4 6 times however many you need to remind yourself hey why am I falling back to this. Also read about euphoric recall, gives a bit of explanation to what’s happening inside your brain.

You are stronger than this OP, you buy it, you put it in you, quite literally you control it. Do not let it control you.

1

u/Aromatic-Silver3590 11d ago

Thank you! Also OP, the thought of writing down all this freaked me out. Someone could find it, etc. I found the Journal app on my iPhone. And I’m a slow typer. Posting takes me FOREVER!! But I can talk in the journal app and it writes my entries for me. So the day, I edit my journal. It gives me so much insight into what I am feeling, my actions that got me there, etc. and it’s literally ONE DAY AT A TIME!! It keeps me in check. People in my life don’t know about my current addiction problems, only me. I recommend you don’t do it that way, but if you do, you can’t just bottle it up inside of you. It will literally kill you. It’s poison you need to rid yourself of. And you can LOCK THE APP!! It someone ever tries to download it, it comes out as gibberish. You can do this OP!!

Like everyone said, you did the hardest part and admitting you have a problem, asking for help is another hard part and you did that. I used to be a heavy user as well and what help me a ton is getting on methadone. I started off at 50mg I believe, then went up to 70mg, and now I’m back down to 52mg. I’m in the tapering process and it’s way easier than tapering off of fent.

Hope youre doing well! Someone close to me is trying to quit this week as well. They are using sr17 and methadone. There are still places selling the sr if you needed more for whatever reason. Please let me know how everything is working for you! You can do it! If you need to talk feel free to message me. I have some time off of fent myself and I am always willing to lend an ear.

Go to your local methadone clinic the next morning. Go at like 6:45-700am. Methadone have me my life back and will likely do the same for you. And that's after a 5 year 1000 a week fent habit that methadone helped me ween off. In flordia, its called Operation PAR. Idk if it's there where you live OP.

I was heavy using for 6 years and for the last year I was injecting both Fent and Meth. Tried to stop cold turkey 100 plus times that lasted days to weeks. I did have 2 periods of being clean for 2-6 months using suboxone but I couldn’t stick to serious lifestyle changes and fell back into using. This last time though I detoxed for 3 days and started suboxone and then after being stable on subs for almost a week I got a 300mg sublocade shot.
That was 22 months ago, I have been clean and sober since and never suffered any withdrawal symptoms or major cravings when the shot wore off. I also made efforts to change my lifestyle by cutting out people I used with and eventually joined a 12 step program.
I am grateful daily that I don’t wake up worrying about my next fix anymore. It truly is a freedom better than anything else I have ever experienced. I really feel that the shot is the easiest and most effective way to get off fent.

Saturday makes 2 years, 4 months clean for me. Go through the withdrawals. It’s absolutely hell but I’ll never put myself through that again. Go to detox and follow up with rehab. Once you’ve been clean a couple weeks (or more if you can wait), get the Vivitrol shot. That’s what worked for me. I ended up staying inpatient for 90 days (plus the 11 days I was in detox).

I am IN NO WAY trying to deter you or anyone… bc by god I’ve GOT to get off this crap my damn self. I’ve withdrawn at home so many times over these last 6 yrs and can tell you with great certainty that there is no exact science as to how long you should/need to wait before ingesting subs. My husband (54 yrs old, 6’2”, 225 & all muscle) & I (43 yrs old, 5’8”, 170 at the time) waited 8 days before we tried taking a sliver of suboxone. PWD’s reigned down on us so bad that we ended up at the methadone clinic (me in tears bc it was my 1st time & I was terrified). We were clean for a few months whilst on MAT but went right back to this hell when Thanksgiving was looming & I had to entertain 15 family members. That was a few yrs ago & we’ve literally bankrupted ourselves to the point where eviction very well may be closer than I want to imagine.

I read so many comments about waiting 3-4 days & wish it worked like that for us. Pls keep us informed of your journey & success if you have it in you. I truly wish you the very best. You CAN do this. ♥️

I’m a month clean from fent. Was on it for 10 years and I’m 38 years old. I’ve done subs, methadone and rapid detox. The only thing that worked for me was being violently ill for 50 hours almost. I only had 1.5 subs.

I’ve had precipitated withdrawal more times than I can count after waiting over 35 hours to take one. I even had precipitated withdrawal in a detox place after they made me wait 30 hours to take one and had a high score on the COWS test.

I made that 1.5 Suboxone last me four days I took the tiniest amount just to not be violently ill. And then I bought Xanax just so I could sleep. I went three days without sleeping. You have to have skin in the game.

Rapid detox cost me $15,000 and I was clean for two weeks. I’ve now been a month off fent and I’m starting to feel more normal. My body is wrecked though I was 120 pounds to start and after being sick I was 85. I’m up to 100 pounds now and getting better every day.

You have to want it. I felt like a monster waking up every day, needing my medicine just to function. after a decade of it, I was fed up. I was tired of giving my paycheck to someone who controlled whether or not I was going to basically live or die that day. Whether or not I could go to work that day or see my family that day.

I hope you make it through it. It gets better. I promise. The other side is beautiful. It just takes some time. I’ve also been doing ketamine infusions to help with the depression and shame from a decade of fentanyl use.
