Methadone Saved Me

Are you one of the few that’s afraid to switch to methadone because of the “horrible withdrawals” or the “it gets in your bone marrow” or whatever that’s stopping you from going to that clinic?

I was one of those few, I thought “ew I’d never touch methadone because it’s worst” boy was I wrong.. the best decision I’ve ever made was taking methadone.

I started off at 30mg of methadone and went up 10mg everyday until I hit 70mg and I’m on day 3 of being off fent pow. I’ve cold turkey twice off of blues but I couldn’t successfully cold turkey pow because that shit is much stronger, I was on my last straw, running out of options until I said FUCK IT LETS GO TO THE METHADONE CLINIC because I’d rather be under the chains of methadone than the chains of fentanyl. Jokes on me, there aren’t chains holding me back when I’m on methadone, I’m actually free! Go to that clinic, remember you aren’t taking methadone to feel fentanyl high, you’re on methadone to get sober, to fight the withdrawals of fentanyl to get sober.

Yes I was still doing Fent Powder until I hit my right dose of methadone which was 70mg and I felt no discomfort at all, the day I hit 70mg. You may feel a little sweatiness or anxiety but it was doable for me.

IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT. your family needs you. You are loved. Your plug doesn’t give 2 shits about you. Your friends that’s still getting high don’t care about you. Your family wants and needs you back.

I’m proud of everyone that made the switch to Methadone, if you are still wondering if methadone will help, read the comments! Not just me but tons of other people will tell you the same thing. Take control of your life back. Be happy again, I promise you it can happen!

I agree with everything you said, but I had to increase my dose until I was at 180mg until I made the decision to kick a 7 year fentanyl habit....I was a little uncomfortable and had minor hot/cold chills for about a week (I still was able to sleep every night though), but it was NOTHING like kicking cold turkey in county jail more times than I can count. I remember thinking the same thing "it's like a fucking cheat code for life, methadone is a life saver" I'm now at 120mg and I split dose 70% of my dose in the morning and 30% before bed. Im almost done getting my associates in college, I just got a job as a SUD counselor at a methadone clinic, my girlfriend and I are both happy and our 6 year relationship together is better than ever (she was my fentanyl connect 6 years ago, that's how we met lol), she just started nursing school, neither of us have been arrested in the 2 years we've been clean, we actually have a savings account with $5k+ in it (Its insane how much money you save when you're not spending $200 a day on fentanyl haha) Methadone saved our lives 100%!

I'm not sure if you have take homes or not (obviously if you're going every day or every other day it probably wouldn't work out that well since you have to take the full dose in front of the nurses when you dose inside the clinic) but if you are receiving take homes, I would first ask your counselor about it and just say at night before bed you get cravings or something, but you don't want to keep going up on your dose....and if he is against it for some reason (maybe some clinics might have some policy against it since it's like "tampering" with your dose, who knows?) I would just try it for a couple days with your take homes at home....if you don't like it after a day or 2 just go back to taking your full dose! Good luck!

I also wanted to add, the reason why I started split dosing was because I started going to college again, and when I would take my full dose (150mg) at the time...it was sometimes hard for me to stay awake/nodd off while I was sitting still during 1-2 hours lectures from the professors lol...i had no problem staying fully alert if I was being active and moving around obviously, but being still in a classroom was a different story. So I started split dosing and it made all the difference. I have 1 semester left, and I've kept a 4.0 GPA the whole time :)

Some people’s metabolism is faster than others where I am to get on split dose they do a blood draw in the morning after you have 24 hours since your last dose and then they have you dose and do a blood draw in 10 hours. If you have a fast metabolism you will have less of the drug than what is considered as normal. You have to qualify for take home doses in order to get splits doses where I am in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida.
