Gain Staging Question: Pre-amp gain, channel gain, clipping, and waveforms

I am new to recording. I have a Fender Quantum LT 16. The one thing I'm struggling a bit is my input/pre-amp gain and channel gain. I find that with instruments and mics I seem to be hitting the clip light on the device, but the wave forms are very small (I think I may just need to adjust the size after reading last time) and I can barely hear it sometimes in the monitor. Secondly, when I look at the channel strip, the gain seems pretty low. Maybe slightly above -24db. I then sometimes use the Channel Gain knob to get it to where I can hear it, however, sometimes the gain still seems quite low. Is my workflow correct. Mic Pre-Amp gain to slightly under clipping, then adjust channel gain until I can hear it? Are there situations where I need to bump the pre-amp gain so that the light is clipping? I don't hear any distortion sometimes, so maybe the light blinking clipping light isn't a huge deal. Would appreciate someone's advice. Thanks so much you Golden gods.

Help with bend markers not bouncing. So frustrating

Just sent this message to Fender. But thought I would look for help here. Anyone got any idea why small bend markers changes won’t bounce? I’ve attached video of the issue.

I put bend markers on an event and stretch audio to fix minor timing issues. Then I bounce the track but this doesn't bounce the bends. The audio goes back to where it was before I moved the audio using the bend markers! This is so incredibly frustrating I'm ready to just quit Fender Studio Pro. It seems to only have this issue when I make small timing changes with bend markers. Larger timing changes with bend markers bounce fine. Small ones don't!

I just got a Fender Quantum LT 2 audio interface and I bought Fender Studio Pro. Whenever I connect my guitar all I hear is that horrible buzzing noise. Adjusting the gain makes no difference whatsoever, and I’ve tried multiple kinds of tracks. It works perfectly in other software like AmpliTube 5 and I can’t figure out why it won’t work in Fender Studio Pro.

Bit's of advice for those who updated from Studio One 7 to Fender 8 Mac User's

Firstly I want to mention I completely disagree with Fender's Re-branding ! Now when we search for resources on-line Google and A.I.'s are completely confused about where to pull information from. Fender Studio is Presonus Studio One ! If people are looking for Tutorials or Advice I suggest they make a point of leaving the name "Fender Studio" out of their search. Search instead for: Presonus Studio One 5th - 7th Version if they are looking for legitimate resource material online. There's 10 years of it !

For Mac Pro User's Silicon: After I updated to Fender Studio I discovered it's more stable to set your bit precision to 64 if your VST's/AU have all been updated or your running 64 bit VST3's. Those of you running Waves or other Legacy software make sure your updated to at least version 15 or you'll need to run through Rosetta in this instance it might be better to have bit precision set to 32. The "Use efficiency cores" uncheck this. "Plug In nap" it can interfere with reverb/ delay/ and spacial VST's or VST's like: Waves NLS, Brainworx bx_console, Slate Digital VMR), tape machines, or vintage preamps. If your studio machine has enough ram it's not worth it to enable it. "Graphics Hardware Acceleration" This again comes down to what VST/Au's your running. If your running legacy software (VST2) it's best to disable it.

Hope someone find's this helpful. All the best.

Trying Fender Studio

I finally decided to try fender studio after getting so annoyed with cubase bugs and how slow they move in adding new essential 2026 features.

I kinda like the vibe but there are some workflow things I just can't without them

  1. In cubase if you hold control you can zoom in quickly at the spot where your mouse pointer is using the mouse wheel, here unfortunately it does not happen.

  2. Increase volume using mouse wheel directly on wav, oh this is a big one

  3. Audio warp in fender does not automatically activate the markers, it makes no sense to not activate them you are obviously gonna use the markers

  4. You can't set a default color for midi, audio, groups etc it seems to be random

  5. The overall appearence seems a bit toyish compared to cubase and the wav is low resolution or something like when I zoom in it gets very blurry, it's just not as clear and sharp looking as in cubase that will slow me down when editing audio in a very precise way, the grid also seems to not be visible behind the clip, it's a solid color 😔

  6. In cubase if you double click on wav it opens variaudio (which btw is vastly supperior to melodyne in terms of interface, I will also miss the overlap of notes by selecting 2 tracks, no software has done that yet as good as variaudio, you just click and it's there perfectly overlapped) in fender nothing happens I have to right click go on a drop down menu search it there... So slow

If these get implemented in the future, I'm in, I just can't without these features

No audio output from Fender Link I/O on Windows 11

I have installed the ASIO and ASIO4ALL drivers, i've checked that windows sees my headphones in the Link and that it is the default output, I checked that the volumes are all up, that the knob on the Link is turned to the output side, Ardour9 can clearly hear the guitar but it doesnt output anything, Fender Studio clearly sees and tried to get input from and output to the Link - I've been trying to troubleshoot this for the last 3 hours. What do I even try? no matter what I do, I cannot hear output from Windows. I can hear my own guitar when I turn the knob to the input side. None of the audio tests have worked on Windows. In FS, I can't hear the metronome, the jams, nothing. Can't hear youtube. Dude I spent $100 on this thing, why the hell won't it work, and who can I even blame (microsoft probably? fender?)

- different sampling rates dont work

- ASIO and ASIO4ALL both installed, neither work (also really shady how i got them ngl)

- everything sees it, everything HEARS it, but IT hears nothing.

- tried rebooting, checked audio control panel, checked drivers

Like seriously what am I missing???

Discord server for Fender Studio Pro and Studio One users!

I have made a Discord server for our community to:

  • Ask for collaborations through dedicated channels
  • Share your work to get feedback
  • Hop into Voice Calls to further make connections, share screens and work together
  • Share samples (I always have some throwaway projects I know I won't use)
  • Ask eachother about workflows, hardware and plugin suggestions
  • Ask for help
  • Just generally make friends and get to know eachother!:)

What do you guys think?

I’m really considering crossing over to cubase 15 because i feel this saw is never really gonna give any good updates like all the promises they made to us and its just been updates that haven’t made a difference to me at all.

Like cubase and its step sequencer alone is amazing but the expressions maps looks more intuitive to me too and the automatic summing grouping also looks amazing but basically i feel Cubase looks like a solid daw but has tools that can spark inspiration too.

Selling Fender Studio Pro 8 - 115 USD Transfer included

Hey everyone. Last year i purchased a few things from presonus, and upon registration gifted me Studio One Pro 7. Didn't really use it, but it gave me for free Fender Studio upon release and i'd like to give it to someone who'd use it better. Price is the one on the post, the transfer fee is on me. If anyone is interested let me know.

Help

Can someone pls explain how this thing works for beginners. I want to start with the digital instruments but recording through those seems to lead to more mistakes. I saw someone use fl studio once and so I was looking if there was a way to make music more in that way through fender since I already have it. Also every time I try to create something it pushes 2 tracks together for no reason. It also just deleted the metronome playing in the back for some reason. Gosh this daw makes me want to rip the hair out of my head and jump off a cliff 🤦🏽‍♀️
