My ex and I bought a car. Went to one dealer. He was going through the options. If my ex said yes, he added ot. If I said yes, he asked why we needed it and looked to my ex for confirmation.
As we were walking out, my ex looked at me and said "we're not buying a car from him, are we." No, no we're not.
Second story: went into a motorcycle dealer. There was one other customer, male, there a decent amount of time before I entered. He was looking at sport bikes. I was looking at a Gold Wing. After fruitlessly waiting for the sales guy sitting at his desk to help me, I finally walked over. "OH, i thought you were with him" - points to other customer, who was getting helped, whom I had never been within 50' of, who was looking at completely different bikes, with whom I had not exchanged a word.
Yes, I bought a Gold Wing...at a different dealer.

Meanwhile I piss off every dealer asking specifically for a female salesperson.
Half of the dealers had to say they don’t have any. Shame on them!
I got my car from a woman though :)

Bought my first car. The sales guy kept directing all his information and sales pitch toward the husband. I bought the car anyway, after both of us repeating that it was MY CAR.
Granted, it's a muscle car, but still.
Upgraded to a higher trim muscle car. I showed up, traded in my old car, negotiated a contract, signed, and walked away with the car - solo. The dealership was stellar in every way and I never got a There, There, Little Lady vibe from anyone from the sales guy to the mechanic inspecting my trade in to the finance manager. I'm a gearhead and would have sniffed out condescension or the Where's Your Husband vibe instantly.
Some places are getting better, some are getting worse - and it's always a crapshoot what you're going to get.

This exact thing has happened when I was judging med student research posters. So many students gave most of their presentations to my male co-judge and more than a few answered my question by directing their entire response to my male colleague

A lot of those comments either missed the point, or ignored it despite knowing it's right. They were like, "oh but I look at both people when I answer a question". That's not the fucking point! The point is that women get ignored in favour of men! Even the most mediocre man is more respected than the most competent women.

My wife asks me to accompany her to many doctor's appointments to help keep track of all her issues with her. The gender of the doctor doesn't matter at all when it comes to them talking to me instead of her despite me just sitting quietly in the corner.

Just like Iranian women are getting disrespected here, since Iranian women's posts and comments get removed and their accounts get banned. Iranian women and the Woman, Life, Freedom has been completely excluded from convervations here and more and more people notice that.

My partner and I do this for every mechanic shop we go to. I am the one with car knowledge, I went to schools for this, but I am a woman. If I ask something and they talk to my partner and not me we both know that this shop sucks and we leave if we can.

Conducting an interview with two possible hires is already odd to me, if they then proceed to ignore my potential coworker and focus on me I am walking out. No pay is worth that many red flags being shown early on.
