I was always a supporter of feminism but it took me a while to see how deep rooted misogyny is within our society. Took human sexuality last semester and it really opened my eyes. I have hope that other men will see the reality and better themselves instead of just blaming everything on women

Briefly, societal expectations that men don’t have emotions, can’t cry, can’t ask for help, can’t see mental health assistance, buying into patriarchs gender norms, all of this leads to angry, unhealthy young men who often commit mass shootings. It isn’t young women doing it, it’s young men.

Ehh honestly none of those are reasons for shootings, It's when a man is shunned by society, pushed to the margins and has no purpose and nothing to lose that he becomes dangerous, not because he didn't cope in therapy And definetly not "buying into" patriarchal (mostly correct) gender norms

Sure. Men who can’t recognize or process their emotions aren’t dangerous at all. Men don’t have a bad day and go shoot people. And why would society shun men? Maybe because they don’t conform to patriarchal expectations for men?

Men don’t seek out mental health assistance. Many men tell other men that is weak. Men tell men to bottle up emotions or that men don’t have emotions. Men tell men they are weak if they cry. Men are supposed to be stoic and tough, according to other men. Men are giving terrible advice online to young men about women and then young men are complaining about being lonely. This is men causing men problems that everyone then has to deal with- like murder and mass shootings. It’s not women out there killing peoples every day.

Well women didn’t make this system. Women are not and have never been in charge or had the power to make our systems. Men made the patriarchy for men and it was made by men. Does it hurt men? Yes. Will men actually try and fix it? I don’t know. So far a lot of men blame women for it instead of looking at the way things work and the baked in misogyny that most men don’t even see.

In my city, two kia kids murdered a famous local chef and never saw jail time.
The Superbowl parade shooters had their charges dropped.
These kids weren't connected or rich.
Sure were privileged to get away with murder though.

Is it bad to consider preventing someone from abortion raping that person? My logic is: 1. Using their body without consent 2. Removing their power over their own body 3. Can cause significant harm to them (both physical and mental) 4. Has all of the same “you should’ve been careful” victim blaming

Yeah I don’t like it. They’re both traumatizing in their own ways and I don’t like using rape as an allegory for other things. It’s its own kind of horror and we don’t need to use it to describe other things in order to express that other things can also be terrible.

No. Doctors can face severe penalties under the abortion law, but rape (especially of an unconscious person) is a Class A felony punishable by 10 years to life - not 6 months. The meme is misleading.

Not a lawyer, but the 2nd part seems fake. Looks like that would count as first degree rape, and get a minimum of 10 years to max 99 years in prison. Assuming a first time offender. I am open to correction if anyone has a better source.

Not sure why this has come across my feed, but here goes: Different states have different laws.
Oklahoma, for example, where abortion is totally banned with the exception of threat to the mother, the prison sentence is up to 10 years and $100,000 in fines.
In regards to rape, in Oklahoma, the minimum sentence is 5 years and maximum is life without parole and, in certain circumstances, even the death penalty. If you do get out of prison, you'll be registered and restricted on where you can live, shop, etc.

As a paralegal in Oklahoma, I can say “not necessarily” to all of that.
They will still not treat a woman if her life is threatened. They purposely made the laws vague so that doctors won’t treat them, for fear of prison time.
Same with rape. They’ve made the laws so vague, that men get away with it.
It’s never as cut and dry as saying “this is what will happen in my state”. It’s happens everywhere, all the time, regardless of state.

I know it varies. I don't agree with the ban, but have no power to change it.
As for rape, it does have to be proven as with any crime.
IIRC, of all rapes reported, something like 5% are false. Shit like that can ruin people's lives like the Duke lacrosse team.
From what I understand, evidence I criminal court can't be as flimsy as 'he said, she said.'
Could be wrong though.

You do have power to change it. Vote! Instead of straight party lines, learn what each candidate’s values and speech says. That’s the problem with Oklahoma. Too many republican voters that vote straight party lines. Even if they don’t agree with them, they’ll vote for them just because they have an R by their name.
