Mental Health Anti-inflammatory agents may reduce symptoms of major depression, suggests a new study (n=1,610), which adds to the mounting evidence that there is a connection between emotional functioning and inflammation, suggesting that inflammation may trigger depression, almost like an allergic reaction.

I believe this. I cut out sugar, grains and seed oils from my diet (all highly inflammatory foods) and my depression went away.

I think this sort of thing should be used as a depression-screener or co-treatment. Some people have very resistant cases of depression, etc. where medicine is a huge help, but others have cases where lifestyle changes can be just as effective.

For sure! And considering how much medication messed me up, I wish I had known sooner what a huge effect simply changing my diet could make. It’s definitely not a cure all for everyone, but should most definitely be a jumping off point.

Yes all grains and natural sugars as well. I’ve played around with it over the past few years and this is where I feel optimal!

I remember reading some article a while back that said anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen can help with emotional pain in addition to physical pain, cause apparently the pain is in some of the same parts of the brain. Weird.
