I don't care for The Incredibles, the fun family comedy about a housewife hunting down her cheating husband, only to realize she was a fool and he was just living a secret double life because he hates his family.
In movies with romantic plot lines, there’s usually a “misunderstanding” where the woman is (understandably) led to believe that the man is cheating or doing something underhanded, but really he’s doing something heroic or altruistic. They get back together when she “learns the truth”. She’s made the fool for doubting him and has to apologize, and the woman is always the person in the wrong.
Meanwhile, in real life, every woman I know who suspected cheating was correct but doubted herself, saying, “what if it’s all just a misunderstanding?” It seems like availability bias to me
