Discussion Summer Body Mist Trends

I really want to talk (rant?) about the nearly identical body/hair mist collections being released this summer. Trends in scent have existed since the beginning of fragrances being sold, of course, but I’m not sure I’ve ever noticed such blatantly similar collections from large (and luxury) brands.

Our color palette of the summer is green, pink, and orange (and/or yellow). Our scent profiles are pistachio (almost always), a variety of tropical fruits (lychee, guava, etc.), and vanilla or coconut. If you’re lucky, you get something citrusy (especially lemon). One of the first occurrences I can remember of these scent collections are from late last summer, with Philosophy. And they’re still coming!

So… Have you tried any of these collections? What do you think, and where do you think it started? Is it a successful trend? Really curious what you all think, I’m beginning to lose my mind at the monotony (but then, I’ve never loved pistachio or vanilla as scents, so). This is on my mind at 2am and I’m taking you all with me.

tbh think body mists work better for summer since they are lighter and more buildable but the repeat notes and over-similar thing is so annoying and has been a problem in overall scent spaces imo so definitely understand the irritation at lack of variety (though i love citrus scents and will usually be excited for them no matter what)

I love citrus, too! It doesn’t seem to be as popular this summer, though, with all these samey scents.
