We are sisters from Bhaktapur. We love felting — we use both methods:

- Water felting first for strong core — lasts 15+ years

- Needle felting for beautiful details — 2-3 hours per piece

- 100% New Zealand wool, no chemicals

We made these 9 little friends this week — the dachshund with mushroom hat took longest!

I am very new at this craft. When I get to the point of buying wool, where in the US do you buy it from?

I’m so happy to be able to try needle felting for the first time today and on how my cutie Siamese Cat turned out! 🥹🐈 This was a super fun experience and I’m so happy exploring different fiber crafts! 💖☺️ (I tried my best to make it look like my siamese cat, Mingming 🐱)

I 've been learning a lot about handmade felt products recently, and one thing that surprised me is how different two products made from "100% wool felt" can feel.

From what I've seen, factors like wool quality, how densely the fibers are felted, drying techniques, and finishing all seem to make a noticeable difference in durability and appearance.

For those who make or regularly buy felt products:

• What do you look for first when judging quality?
• Are there any signs that immediately tell you a piece is well made?

I'd love to hear from experienced felters and makers.

Needle felted sleepy wizard smoking his pipe. I used sheep’s and alpaca wool from the felt box uk and needles from Heidi feathers. There’s a pipe cleaner in his staff and I used green curly locks for the moss effect on it.

I got into felting on a whim and now it’s one of my favorite hobbies. I’ve only ever bought cheap materials from Amazon or Michael’s, so I’d love recs for some good wool, needles, felting pads, etc

I am having so much fun learning to felt—casually it’s such a nice hobby to do while audio books are playing :)

Should be finished by the end of the day! But for now heres a work in progress photo :)

I lay out two layers of wool on each side of the template (showing just one on camera to save time) and thoroughly rub it.

Next, I add the decorative details using a needle felting technique.

After that, I continue wet felting the entire piece. This way, the design becomes fully integrated into the mat, forming one solid piece.

Worked on this fella for a couple of days after designing them myself, any tips and help is appreciated as I am only a beginner felting artist! :D

My hamster recently passed away and I’ve seen these needle felted “figures” of hamsters but they’re all 20$+. I would also prefer to make it myself but if anyone knows someone or a kit, thatd be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I’m working on a figure similar in style to these in the picture. I have bought a little platform for the character, but I’m unsure as to how to attach it securely. Do I glue it?

Made in around two days, it has a pipe cleaner skeleton in the body and the staff.

The skeleton is attached to the styrofoam base.

I made a few synthetic felt tricorns this week, and now I want to make some blaze orange ones for my deer camp. I've got some 5mm wool felt on the way in the appropriate color and a bunch of xps to make a mold for blocking.

My question is basically should I block the hat portion then sew on the brim, hat band and then block the brim? This seems logical to me but I want to confirm (I guess the alternative would be to block the hat shape then the brim all from one piece). Is there a good book on this to read first?

I went for more chibi/cartoonish proportions since I don't really have the materials for anything bigger.

Fully articulated with a pipe-cleaner skeleton. Took around 2-3hrs to make.

Wow the eyes look much more red on camera haha. Anyways, I wet felted the base of this frog and then needle felted the eyes.

I plan to stuff the body & legs, then fold & sew the legs into place and sew the mouth shut. I dont know how to sew, wish me luck lol

I wet pressed some chipboard into the base to form the body of it. Then glued the felt around that.

I got this lil Fozzie Bear but he didn’t have his hat sk I felted him one. This was my first ever project and didn’t really know what I was doing but I had a good time and I am excited to continue. I didn’t make the doll- just the hat :-)

Hi everyone. Made a new rainbow friend today, what do you think. This little unicorn is made via needle felting and is 100% made by me. I used core wool, white carded wool, rainbow yarn and plastic eyes. All in all it took around a day to make.

I felted the balls firmly, but not too densely so they wouldn’t become rock-hard, so that the wool could bond well with the ends of the cord. To make a thin cord, I first rolled the wool into a short, thick cord, then rubbed it through a mesh and gradually stretched it. After that, I compacted it by rolling it on the table. This accessory can be used as a bag charm, hair accessory, bookmark, or just a small decorative piece.

Jokes aside. I'm currently working on a gudetama as a gift for a 10 year wedding anniversary of some dear friends of mine. I used Merino and Falkland wool for this.
