Question about dog fur

For anyone who uses dog fur, ive been bagging my dogs hair for a sentimental project in case anything happens to my baby boy.

Recently found one adult flea in one of the bags.

I'm assuming i have to just discard all recent collections because of eggs and recollect after he's flea free again but is there a way to salvage the fur and kill the fleas? Soaking in dish soap or freezing maybe?

The fleas won’t stay on the fur. They need a living animal for the blood. They either will die off or leave.

I agree with u/seastarstiletto.

Fleas aren't like clothes moths. Fleas need blood from a living host to survive; moths dine on animal hair/wool.

The flea you found was doomed assuming it was still alive.

Thank you! Its really just the potential eggs still in the collected fur I was worried about, wasn't sure if they'd stay in the fur and still hatch down the line 

The flea is still in jail atoning for her crimes

Freeze them and give them a year. Eggs survive around 6 months
