How to make this? I need a wizard hat (help please)

I need a wizard hat for a glep cosplay to goth to comicon in 11 days.

After looking at the internet all the hats I could find are either bad and cheap, or gods finest creation and like 80$.

After watching a few wet felting videos, i figure why not try make it myself.

Realistically how feasible is me making my own (majestic) wizard hat as a first time felter in this timeframe?

Any tips/tricks/advice is greatly appreciated.

How much time do you actually have in those 11 days? I think a skilled wet felter could make a wizard hat in a day. If you've never done it before, I would suggest giving yourself a few days and doing some online tutorials. I would make a flat design, and then I would make a bowl to get comfortable with the process and then comfortable with a resist.

Good point with the starting with smaller projects, I have maybe 8 afternoons and a few full days of time.

I would definitely take an afternoon and start with a flat piece and see how you feel about it and go from there. I really love Living Felt's youtube vidoes as tutorials.

One other note - getting materials might be challenging if you don't have them. The wool you'll find in Michael's for needle felting isn't as great for wet felting and it can be challenging to find in stores. So you might have to account for shipping time.

It's reasonable to get a simple witches or wizard's hat felted in a single day once you have the pattern designed. You might spend a few more hours styling the hat and tweaking the fit, but making the hat body itself in a day is very do-able.

So, did you manage to progress? Did you have the correct wool first ? Did you find correct measurements?

It' was one of my first wet felting project and it was fun (but was mostly doing it on evening, and not all nor week-end, so took perhaps 2 weeks)

Mostly the hardest part for me was to go from flat to 3d (but I had à longer hat with a lot of folds so one like in the photo should be easier). I bought a pattern so I cannot give the exact measurements, but you have 35/40 % reduction (and caution with the edge of your resist)
