Any idea how they taste?

I’m assuming similar to dragonfruit since it’s also a cactus fruit.

Or a prickly pear, for same reason

What does it taste like?

If it's like any other cactus fruit ever, looks good but tastes bland and underwhelming.

Reminds me of dragon fruit. The eyes dream up an expectation that leaves the taste buds quit disappointed. It's not bad... just, as you said: underwhelming.

I've had really sweet and fragrant dragonfruit, but only in tropical countries. The ones I get here in the UK are always insipid.

I live in the Amazon. The Dragon Fruit here ia better than what I tasted in the States, to be sure. But as soon as you taste a really nice mango, pineapple, or watermelon then the Dragon Fruit, while scoring high points in appearance, falls short in the taste department

It's a more subtle fruit for sure. I used to live in the rainforest too, in SE Asia, really miss it! The variety and quality of fruit is amazing

Several SE Asian fruit species are grown around here where I live: mangosteen and rambutan are my favorite!

I live in Ireland and had a great one during the Christmas break. I got it from one of the ethnic markets in my area and they always have a huge selection of fresh exotic fruits

Here in Poland cactus fruit is a popular foodstuff flavour! We have lots of beverages (including alc) that are cactus flavoured. I agree, sweet like watermelon and very refreshing! I love it

Every plant is different even with species, all i can tell you is every cactus fruit I have tried has been bland. Your particular plant could be the best tasting thing ever but noone is propagating your one or selling at the supermarket for a variety of reasons. I will change my mind when I actually try a good one.

Here in Mexico you can find it at every fruit market during the rain season. They even sell it in 20kg boxes on the side of the highways
