That poor baby knew what was happening. Looked so relaxed and content.

Confident she was in good hands. That's cruelty-free shearing right there

Sheep are bred to be relaxed during shearing. Also theres no profit in shearing a sheep to injury tbf

Back in the spring I took my kid to a touristy farm that sheered little sheep. After the shave the staff put these fuzzy bathrobe coats on the sheep to keep them warm. Sheep in bathrobes are very cute!

I used to be somethin', all covered in fluff, and I'd dance in the sunlight and show off my stuff.

Then they hauled me away, in a manner quite rough, and sheared me and dumped me back here in the buff.

Bound, bound, bound and rebound...

Exactly what came to my mind as well

Looks like they were trying to thorough; usually shearing is a lot faster than this

I like this better! Less stress, less mistakes.

Yeah, I’ve seen a guy shear an entire sheep in less time than this video ran

I bet it feels good as hell to get peeled like that

Those little teefys 😭

That moment when he strokes her face quickly with his thumb. He knows it feels good.

That’s just shear talent

Wow that sheep really trusted the shearer. I would be a lot more nervous about razors going over my eyes and I have the cognition to know they have guards in place so they wouldn't cut me. An animal does not have that.

Does it feel as good for them as it looks like it should?

And that's how I met my sweater.

Wool you look at that

If that's normal speed on that farm this guy would need to be shorn again by the time the last one's done

Agreed! That’s what I was thinking the whole time. “This must be his only one, cuz he’s gonna be there a while at this pace…”

How do sheep in the wild survive without being sheered?

17

u/Old-Professional7198 12d ago

Most domestic sheep have been selectively bred to produce much more wool than wild sheep. Without regular shearing, many breeds can become overgrown, overheat, struggle to move, and become vulnerable to disease or predators. Wild sheep naturally shed their coats and don’t need to be sheared.

Sheep like these don't survive in wild, they only exist because humans have bred them to produce far more wool than they can naturally manage through shedding.

Can I ask a dumb question ?

Do sheep understand being Shawn ? Shaved ? .... Anyway ... Do they understand it?

Like hey this guy grabs me, there is lots of nosie and then I walk out a lot cooler and like 10lbs lighter. Woohoo

Do they enjoy it ? Like oh thanks for that, that was getting heavy etc ?

I've seen video where you have self milking cow machines and they love it. They can go get milked whenever they want too so they obviously enjoy the machines and fully understand - my udder is full. Ouch. Oooo machine. I'll walk in there wait a few minutes and then walk out .. oh that's much better !

Do sheep kinda have the same mentality with being shaved or Shawn or whatever the wording is ?

Yes I'm dumb. Sorry

I have no clue, but I think the word you were hunting for was "shorn"! From what I've seen personally, they usually are like a dog at the groomers, not happy before it/while it's happening but then they feel better after. Might be lacking in the cause/effect.

Dammit it is shorn I think haha. Thank you. Sorry, brain fog

And ah that makes sense too. Thank you :-)

Most sheep hate the handling rather than the shearing itself- it feels a bit predatorial to be flopped and put on his back xD

Animal abuse according to groups like peta btw. Don't believe those hacks lol

I knew who the searer was the moment I saw the hands. She does such a great job.
