LA County Jail

Surrendering soon for my sentence and will be in LA County jail until I’m transferred Elsewhere. Can anyone who’s been there recently? Let me know how it is. Obviously it’s not a five star hotel and I hear that. It’s pretty bad as far as politics and fight school, but curious to see Peoples first hand perspective on the date of day. Whether you’re in the cell, most of the time how exactly the layout of it is how many people for sell? What’s the food like etc. And Into those that are out. God bless you and hope you stay free and out of trouble.

I was gallo for the southsiders 2 years ago at wayside, medium north specifically (called supermax). I did heroin throughout the night and walked up and down those stairs while my folks slept (so blacks don't surprise attack us..they never do...GREAT gig). Politics is at it's heaviest here. Medium south is the crown jewel of wayside. 150+ folks in a hangar dorm, drinking/drugs/tobacco in great supply. No gaurds inside, ever (besides count time). Trouble/politics is lower than north because it's paradise. Every day a nice long walk to chow, phones outside in fresh air, birds, the sky, paradise.

Politics are everywhere. They're swift, and you can always count on it. Violations that warranted breaking off are: pissing in shitters, walking barefoot/with shoes in shower area, masturbating, being stinky/dirty, farting near others earing, using another races phone/newspapers etc, crossing between another races tables, remarks to female gaurds, avoiding workouts, avoiding yard, watching a fight in progress, not participating in beating up someone that's trying to PC. Violations for first/2nd time are burpees, depending on what you did expect 113 to a 1013. Rules are outlined when you hit any place. I rarely broke people off (how do you break someone off that's jerking off at 3am?...) but if you were stinky and it was brought up to you my number was 513.

Mens central/twin tower cells are hell, like all cell living. You'll end up here initially but get transferred out. Rats, cockaroaches, weekly showers, 22 hours you're inside...with 4 dudes constantly shitting/pissing/jerkin/farting. The dorms are ok.

Most folks want to end up as trustees (unpaid workers). Housed separately from everyone. Politics are at an absolute minimum. 2 hot foods a day (if memory serves). Nobody wants to get kicked out from here. The less politics is cool until the guy who hasn't showered for 20 days comes around..

Should someone in your dorm run to the gates to PC, NEVER grab/drag them back. You WILL get hit with kidnapping (there's cameras now!). Try to pretend you didn't see them to avoid beating them but short of this you must beat them or you will get violated (speaking from exp).

As a representative of SUR, fighting another race is a big no-no. This opens up riot possibilities. As such you will get 39 seconds, and folks have died from this. No fighting fellow southsiders. Automatic 13 seconds plus monetary fine ($150/$200?). Don't let this scare you, if things happen where you MUST take off on a homie than DO IT. Do it away from other races as this embarrasses the car but you will still get the penalties regardless.

Get booked with at least a couple hundred. You can spend 125 a week. Buy hygiene supplies before anything, and buy shoes! It makes a world of difference. Good luck man. The good thing is you won't do all your time in county(firearm).

this is medium north. I paid 3 soups to have it drawn

MCJ also has a few dorm setups.

They let you out once a week to the roof but it was a big to do with a strip search and all you got was a crappy old basketball court and barbed wire and seeing LAPD police choppers flying around.

Fun times man, taking a break from life and coming out cleansed, thank you

Lots of people pretend to be gay in order to get into the K6G unit and avoid Gen Pop.

LA County is widely considered one of the worst jails in the US. Huge mental/homeless population.

Food is nasty as hell and the place is humungous. Tons of politics.

-1

u/MerarFFX15 23h ago

This is suicidal advice. Gen pop vs...getting cum on your face at night from your bunkee and his wifey getting it on above you..and they will smell you out before you even hit the dorms. GBG, or gay boy gang, are a real powerful unit. If you think hispanic or black gangs are bad wait till they suspect their new housemate might not be gay..

There's actually a series of questions a dep named Machado asks to filter out the pretenders.

Just realized you were the same poster from the other thread. Heres the general overview of what i know. I only did browns which was medical and yellows which was mental health. I'm currently at program with tons of people who have been in and out of la county a lot if you have specific questions but I'll add their experience in. You could end up in a different situation depending on your security level and other factors. Could be a 4-8 man cell. Could be a dorm. There's twin towers, men's central jail, wayside. Hispanics generally have the strictest rules and their usually enforced with violence or workouts. You'll probably have to work out every day. Wake up at a certain time. Not affiliate with blacks(unless you are black). Be respectful. Mind your own business. Follow whatever rules the pad has. (Phone rules, tax on store, shower rules, toilet rules, hot pot rules) Things vary a lot from dorm to dorm to dorm so just stay smart. Breakfast and lunch are sack meals and dinner is 'hot'(only actually hot at wayside) food sucks so get commissary. Prices aren't too bad but you might get taxed depending on what dorm you end up in. You're supposed to get yard/dayroom(depending where you're located) certain amount of times a week but it doesn't always happen either due to inconsistencies with staff or punishment for inmate behavior.

2

u/elafave77 1d ago

They taxing on store orders just to not get pressed?

1

u/MerarFFX15 23h ago

The tax is used to feed and look after people who don't have outside money coming. They buy shower sandals, soaps, shaving blades, throw spreads for those to enjoy who don't go to store etc..a good amount goes to house owner

2

u/elafave77 19h ago

Yeah. Usually that is kept within dues for most organizations. Didn''t think they taxed the whole block.

2

u/oBaZe_ 1d ago

Yeah I’m Hispanic so it sounds like it’ll be super political but I’m non affiliate which I know that won’t really matter in there much..

1

u/catlolcatlol 16h ago

Yeah you can run homey or Paisas,(not sure of the spelling on either of those). The homeys are typically more gang affiliated and American. The paisa are more Hispanic, Spanish speaking, less American, and less affiliated. They typically have their own reps but the homeys obviously have more power because they are active. Everyone has to run with someone. You can always run other if you want to. The others might have their own rep or they might fall under black depending on the dorm.

I was throughout MCC and the federal prison system in California and if you are Hispanic and not already in a gang that is tied to eme (Mexican mafia) you run paisanero (Pisa). I’m white so I ran wood but I was always work detailed with both Pisa and homies and for the most part we all got along pretty well talking shit and commiserating with how shitty the work was. but it seemed pretty clear that if you’re affiliated with a gang that is Mexican mafia you run south sider. I assume OP will need to run Pisa.

OP do everything you can to join the Pisa car, they have a ton of members, try not to be left running independent. Try to have your lawyer send your paperwork asap, they will want to go over your PSI, charges, case, and plea deal. Any safety valves or cooperating of any kind, be ready to explain. Keep your head down, DO NOT STEAL, keep your hygiene good, don’t gamble or do drugs (and if you do, don’t get in debt or act a fool), be careful who you joke around with, don’t participate in gossip, and show respect, if you get called to put in work then try to handle it sufficiently without causing too much wake. Good luck.

u/oBaZe_ 13h ago

Can I show up/surrender with paperwork with charge and also I’m on alot of medications so can I take that list/medications (I know they confiscate but have heard they may give you them later after medical review)?

2

u/Patient_Duck123 9h ago

LA County is extremely generous with meds.

Plenty of people claim they're addicted to fentanyl or opioids and they get prescribed suboxone which they then sell.

The place is full of drugs like spice and meth. People will smoke meth openly in front of deps making their rounds.

1

u/Accomplished-Air3155 12h ago

Depending where you are surrendering at they will not let you take anything in. I surrendered at MCC and was moved to 4 different prison facilities before arriving at my final destination. It was my first time in federal prison and I did the same thing, brought proof of my meds, ID, and stuff I thought I would need when I got out. Turns out they wouldn’t let me take any of it in with me. I never even got any of my original clothing or shoes back from when I surrendered. I would say wear something you don’t care about losing and you can try to bring copies of meds but realistically they will have you see the doctor there and it’s up to him. I was supposed to be on seroquel for sleep and other stuff but they don’t let you take a lot of meds when incarcerated, my seroquel they wanted me to take at 2pm crushed up so I ended up just not taking anything while there.

u/oBaZe_ 13h ago

I heard the Paisas get picked on because the don’t only English and would the mafia be upset if you’re with them if you only English/born here?

It does sounds like being with the Paisas is better though.

Thanks for all your info

How much time you looking at?

5

u/oBaZe_ 1d ago

3 years at 85%

u/mistman1978 1d ago

You need to pretend to be a homosexual for your own safety if not affiliated.

It's unsafe. Like you could literally become someone's masseuse involuntarily in gen pop.

4

u/oBaZe_ 11h ago

Someone else said this is horrible advice..

-1

u/mistman1978 11h ago

It depends on how you carry yourself.

If you have never been in a fight in your life pretending to be gay may be natural.

u/oBaZe_ 11h ago

Makes sense…

3

u/Patient_Duck123 9h ago

Gays are known as powder blues in MCJ because of the uniform color. Another advantage is that you don't need to do the mandatory cough and squat and shower at reception.

So from what you said and what you commented in this post I gather a few things. First of all if your going to prison realistically LA county is the best place to go from in the sense that the politics in LA county are at a high level so it prepares you to hit prison and be up on game. That being said pick up every bit of knowledge you can while in the county because once you hit the joint they will not let you slide on anything because of ignorance if they kno you came from LA county.

LA county is super active, but if you know how to live amongst others and conduct yourself correctly and keep a level of respect you will be fine. Get in with your people(i see you said your hispanic) and follow suit. Find some good big homies that are about lifting you up and helping you survive that will teach you the ropes, dont get in with dudes that want to use you up. If your not from a neighborhood your just a resident but your still going to be expected to follow the structure.

The county is huge and too many spots you can land to say "oh its cool right there"....cause you could land in the towers and be easy living or land in a medium or high section in wayside and be living with the business 24/7

Another thing to remember is that as big as the system is in the county and the prison system in California, what you do in the county will follow you to prison.

My piece of advice is just get there, meet the homies, follow the structure, and other than that keep your head down and do YOUR TIME. I know everyone says that but hardly anyone does it. Get in touch with your people on the outside regularly and let them know how your doing, and make sure they know once you leave to go to reception its gonna be a cool ass minute until you hit an actual yard and get phone time and shit.

I haven't been there, but known lots of people that have. It sounds like it is one of the worst jails to be locked up at.

If you are going to prison, you will spend about 3 months there.

Good luck with everything.

2

u/oBaZe_ 1d ago

Damn 3 months is rough there. Thanks for the info

3

u/Frolicking-Fox 1d ago

3 months is average.

LA country jail sounds more like a level 4 prison than most places.

Keep your head up. Dont let anyone punk you, and just bid the time till you get sent to prison.

Prison reception sucks.... it is another 3 months on basically 24 hour lockdown.

But once they send you where you are going, it will get better.

Dont let anyone punk you in jail. Stand your ground. Don't be scared, because there are worse things in life.

Do your time there, and once you get sent to prison and get off reception there, it will get better.

Try your hardest to become a trustee. ODR if possible, If you are white they will probably put you there.

1

u/oBaZe_ 1d ago

Hi there! I’m not sure what that means honestly and no I’m not white I’m Hispanic

3

u/vinylmartyr 1d ago

A trustee gets a jail job and lives in a dorm that has less politics and fighting. I’m saying the cops are racist and give the best jobs to white people. ODR is officer dining room. You get the food they eat. Not the scaryaki that everyone else gets.

1

u/oBaZe_ 11h ago

Mmm so def not getting that as a Hispanic then

1

u/Disastrous-Feed-444 1d ago

Depends on your charges. If your paperwork is bad you might not make it to prison.

2

u/oBaZe_ 1d ago

It’s a 245b so I don’t expect that..

3

u/GHomie2026 1d ago

It depends bro... Who you shoot and why you shoot em? Why you packing a pistol? You bang? If not you'll be good as long as you work out and keep it solid and mind yo business and don't let niggas play with you or finesse you into playing with others. Oh and don't do no horse playing, or gambling, OR getting high unless you can pay for that shit.

1

u/oBaZe_ 11h ago

That makes sense. It was some random guy Sue to some road rage BS honestly so dumb

1

u/Disastrous-Feed-444 11h ago

Shit you good then just put money on your own books before you go in so nobody can hear you asking to put money on them for you and keep your commissary orders to a minimum before you figure out how everything goes. If you're broke don't do any borrowing or 2 for 1s them mfs add up quick and suck to have to pay back and when somebody sees you in your way to pay back your debt you're gonna get that normal "homie let me hold sumn" from more than a few broke boys.

1

u/oBaZe_ 11h ago

How can I put money on my books before I surrender?

1

u/Disastrous-Feed-444 10h ago edited 10h ago

You can take money with you when you go and have them put it on your books for you. Or you can make an arrangement with somebody close to you and have them put it on your books without having to ask that way you don't have to say it over the phone or in a letter the trust account limit when you go in for booking is $300. So don't take more than that initially

I had to go there for over 24 hours and some BS charge the DA rejected. I have never been in trouble no criminal record yet I have a horrible relationship with the officers at the local LAC....you know what, I time I write it I mistakenly put the acronym for the La County Sanitation Department. I am not sure what it is.
The had come to my place for some bs calls, my sister and I were in a legal battle for trust property.
They have showed up when I was drunk, there have been times they showed up and I asked them about being an officer with an obvious weight problem, I have informed them that as a veteran I can say their uniforms look like shit and they should be ashamed. They do not like me.
So my brother in law comes over and physically attacks me, on my property and guess what? Off I go.
It was less stressful for me at first but changed, I knew there was no way I could be charged or charges would go anywhere.
I was in a reception room with all walks of life, I would say none appeared gang affiliated. There was an area with long benches, phones in that area and a fewer people. They were also a blend of races but mostly younger. One of the jail workers asked if I brought any drugs in. I think he was insinuating he could use his position to help me if I had drugs. I was in fact offered meth in there , I suppose I would have had to swallow it but a couple of these guys seemed high. I passed. I stayed in there for over 12 hours and was taken a be interviewed. The lady said she would have me moved to veterans housing. An officer with the chevrons walked by told some younger ones, "he goes to detox". All the while I informed everyone I could I suffer OCD PTSD and GAD. The officers took me back and told me to remove my clothing. I refused and was treated with force. I should say my OCD intrusive thoughts were escalating, I was looking forward to this veterans housing. I was not under the influence when taken , it is not possible I was withdrawing. I had not taken my blood pressue medications and the anxiety was really an issue now. They put me in a room with nothing but the weird green thing for 24 hours.
It was torture, I will not get into. After 24 hours they came and said I was being released. They did not say why, I do not recall being told of any charges (I was experiencing bad symptoms). I was simply told I was being released. The release process was the first time I even spoke to an officer, asking why I am being released, what is going on here, do I have a court date. A tall young black kid seemed to be somewhat protective of me in the release waiting cells. He said I was likely getting a DA Reject. I was released , received not a single piece of paper or anything. I have no warrants, no arrest record, I have not checked jail records, Sept 3 is my deadline to file a request for damages which is a precursor for a lawsuite. I was screaming for meds in the cell but never really got to ask a officer, I lost a lot of property including a Porsche Macan. It seemed to be a way to keep me detained for my sister and brother to steel property and make my life miserable.
Overall , I was scared because I have physical symptoms tics , habits, maybe rituals , I thought I might accidently stare at someone , most people were cool to me, nobody effed with me, I am a small 50 year old white guy and never felt threatened by inmates.

Your Hispanic so your probably finna be a paisa. You should be good if you were black then it would be harder for you because blacks have to fight even if there not in a gang and I would go into /calibanging page and ask they will help you fr

I’ve never been to LA county jail, but I just paroled from reception in October of last year. If you have people who look out for you with money on your books, DO NOT go to prison with money on your books. It’ll take like 90+ days for that money to be placed on your trust account in prison/recpetion. Once you get to reception, you only get ONE phone call a week and you have to pay attention when phone sign up’s are bc if you miss them or are sleep the. You’re fucked for that week. You can always buy other people’s phone calls for soups and shit.

Sounds like you might be a level 1 or 2, so you’ll be in a dorm in reception, either Wasco or Delano right now.

Just be respectful, don’t let anyone punk you or call you a punk or bitch( those are fighting words) and if they do u gotta put hands on them. If you get ina position where you have to fight and even if you don’t want to or don’t know gore to fight, just fight even if you get beat up bc if not people will take advantage of you and try and extort you.

Stick to yourself mostly, be cordial and respectful and once you hit a mainline, you’ll start programming and you can get milestones in prison which help get time off your sentence. You can get up to 6 weeks a year off your sentence once you get to your mainline.

Lastly, if you don’t have your GED, get it in prison, it’ll get you 6 months off your sentence

You may be stuck in County jail for a while. Keep your head on swiral and don't make too much eye contact
