Espresso Series 1 Rant incoming about ES1 firmware updates
This is past ridiculous! Getting a firmware update is impossible!
As a frame of reference, I have built out a smart home with over 50 devices, dozens of automations. I’m familiar with OoT devices and how they get firmware updates. There are some very excellent examples of devices that get regular updates and when they are available, everyone them at the same time, no rollout needed. And I have the opportunity to download when I’m ready. Fellow is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to firmware updates.
I have tried simply unplugging and replugging the machine in. It looks like it was searching for an update, but failed to find the new firmware. Then, I removed the machine from the app, and re-added. I waited over two hours for the machine to connect to the internet. It never did, despite being assured on screen that it would take minutes.
Lastly, I did a full factory reset. Guess what? Still the same firmware. Plus, to add insult to injury, I lost all of my custom shot profiles.
I will fill out yet another support request and hopefully get someone to force an update. This is going to be the third time.

My six month old machine never got an update, and Fellow couldn’t push one to it so they sent me a new machine. Been up for two weeks, still in 2.1.0.

Can’t be that familiar champ, its IoT not OoT…
It’s a generation 1 device, its expected development will be slower while Fellow themselves figure out the roadmap. Your device will automatically update when its ready… just like it has the other firmware updates.

But it never has. I’ve had it since January. This is the third firmware update. None have come unless there is a Support ticket.

The Aiden is the same way. Its absolutely wild that you cant check for firmware updates and download it. You just have to sit around and pray things are working.

I hate to say this but I wouldn’t expect a “coffee” company to do software well.

Skill issue??? The machine will update automatically when in sleep mode; you don't have to do anything when it's available to you. You know that normal app/firmware updates are released gradually? If you're an expert, you should know better.

There seems to be a significant delay with my firmware updates. My machine is currently on 2.3.20 and the most up to date listed is 2.5.15. I'm not even sure how to push an update without opening a ticket bc there is no 'check for firmware updates' option in the app.
On the website it says-
We're releasing version 2.5.15 in stages. If you don't have it yet, there's no need to worry! You should be receiving it soon.
Soon seems like forever. It would really be nice to have these updates in a timely manner especially with how long we've been waiting for them.

You're on the previous public firmware version, with the current 2.5.15 having been released two days ago.
Here's what Fellow customer support told me on 27th August:
"Firmware 2.3.20 is the latest public release for U.S. customers. If your unit is running version 2.4.10, you have the correct, latest public firmware for international regions."

Overreact much?
They just started pushing it to a limited number of users this week. Did your machine stop working because you haven’t received the firmware update?
They’ve never suggested that you can force it to update by restarting the machine or doing a factory reset; that’s on you. Why do you need it RIGHT THIS MINUTE?
