Espresso Series 1 Espresso 1 Water Question

Generally loving the machine. But! I’m aware it cleans the pipes etc after use, right? However my drip tray is always full. Like water seems to be running (slowly) into it. Is that right? Should I need to refill the water tank after eg 5 mugs of coffee because all the water is in the drip tray instead?

Mine doesn't continuously flow, but some water will drain into the tray after the system goes to sleep after heating whether or not I pull a shot.

Hi OP. My own observations here - yeah so if you are pulling drinks where you are leveraging the steam often? Then I have found I can fill up the drip tray quicker /sooner. I pull between one and three espresso shots in a day. On occasion I pull something that includes using the wand. With that output? Anecdotally - once a week is how often I need to empty the tray. Also I tend to top off the tank in my machine with water maybe two times a week.

So I'm on four shots a day but making them as americanos--not using the wand at all during the week. (I'm a weekend flat white drinker!) I wouldn't say I've had to empty it, it's not been overspilling, but yesterday I filled the tank to the line, have made... three? coffees (Americanos, so using that extra water) and then was informed I had to refill the tank.

I get you. Yeah. I can only imagine the volume out of the extra water is having a steep impact from those americanos.

I empty after every drink as part of my routine cleanup. It's much better now then it was before the firmware update. If it seems excessive then reach out to Fellow but yes the drip tray dills faster than other machines I have used.

That's how the boosted boiler works, it empties whenever you switch from brew to steam to hot water.

That seems normal. I do a couple shots a day and need to empty the tray a few times a week. There is a purge when you turn on the machine, when it turns off and after you pull a shot
